Is the method of serving up sound files for Jester similar to the way the tower and radio speak? That is, can it be influenced by nationality?

An Iranian-accented Jester would be pretty baller. Speaking the dialect even more so.

I propose the latter be named Farsi Fred.

Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!

Seeing as we have the Persian Gulf map and the F-14 is still in active service with Iran, I think that developing an IRIAF version of the F-14 (and everything that goes with that) would be an excellent move.

I can't imagine anything more immersion breaking than fighting against US Hornets with an American sounding RIO.

There is a distinct lack of eastern operated, high fidelity, aircraft that can act as realistic antagonists for the US and other western aircraft.

The IRIAF F-14 (especially in the context of the Persian Gulf), would fulfill this role perfectly.

You need to think of the long-run: make it as a mod, present it to the developers so they can check it out, and if they like it then they add it to the game :) That's how most of the skins included in DCS made it in.

My advice to you is, after the F-14B is released so they will have a little more time in their hands, to contact IronMike (Jester's director) and Cobra (head developer) to ask more about what kind of work would be involved in making an Iranian Jester, either speaking Farsi or English with an Iranian accent. They will then be able to tell you what would be needed, and you can see what you can do to help them out like networking with Iranians who have Tomcat experience or who are willing to lend their voice to the recording process.

yes yes, this is a good idea ... but we need help and cooperation of HB eventually I have enough resources to provide regarding the Iranian F-14 crews... one of the greatest pilots of all the time ( in tomcat: Shahram Rostami with 6 confirmed kills )https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shahram_Rostami

General Rostami is now retired he was trained in the US back in the 70s and he is both pilot and Rio and instructor in both seats he is still alive and retired with a little effort I can manage to find him and speak to him in person but all we need is support and cooperation from HB, Iranian community and of course other people from across the world :)

I'm sure it would be cool but an enormous amount of work. We don't even have French accents for Mirage wingmen in the armée de l'air. I'd worry about getting Farsi or accented Iranian flights first of all. Hope we at least get a RIO in an Iranian uniform when we call up the Jester menu. Anything extra would be a bonus.

This is something we considered doing at one point, but we have deemed it unfeasible for us to do given the shear amount of work involved. The number of recording sessions we've had to do just for the American Jester is insane:pilotfly:

Yes, but is there a way to guide the community to do it as a mod then?

Yes, but is there a way to guide the community to do it as a mod then?

1. Open audio file.

2. Listen to it

3. Translate to farsi

4. Record translation

5. Save the file with the same name as the original file

6. Open the next file and repeat step 1-5 until you have done them all.

A problem with translating directly to Farsi is that most likely the sentence structure might differ from English quite a bit in some cases, so the audio would play out of order. A Farsi speaker talking in English with an accent would be more doable.

The least they could do is provide authentic pilot moostachios for iranian F14 pilots. :)

Hahaaa! Sure it was trend in the 70's and the 80's.

But speaking in mustaches and Iranian, one can't forget to recall one of a kind character: Jalil Zandi

Now this guy REALLY was a legend.

Just do your own.

I for one wish ED would have the option for boris badenov comms instead of actual Russian language voices.

The formulation almost no one does imply the existence of at least one, doesnt it?

cheers :pilotfly:

Almost no one is a false statement. Almost should be brought together with uncountable.
