Yesterday I could get my head outside the cockpit glass during flight. Track IR here and it happened if I looked left and back and did lean against the canopy There is a spot were I could get half my head outside the canopy.

I wish I could do that when taxiing with the canopy open...

+1

I was playing a WW2 sim this weekend (no names; no pack drill) and the ability to hang your head out of the cockpit is a really immersive feature. Hope DCS will eventually implement the same.

e: back on topic....yes there are certain 'sweet spots' where you can break through the canopy. Not limited to the Mustang.

You can do this in VR all day long in every plane I've tried. I get it setup so I'm in level flight at low level, stand up, have a strech, turn around 360, sit down. Nice views :)

I don't think they are bothering with fixing it anytime soon, just keep your hands and heads inside the ride kids...

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).

1st it got fixed, 2nd I don't fly VR for that reason. A sim without canopy limits isn't a sim. Enjoy your views!

Dear ED team, is this issue beeing looked at ? Still can stick my head through the canopy glass. Thx

No problem here. With the canopy closed, head stops normally against the glass. Open it on approach or while taxiing, I can lean out and see past the nose just fine. Using TrackIR.

(We are talking about the Mustang, right?)

VR is different, it works like this in VR as to not put weird limits on people that might disorientate or mess up views.

With TrackIR and general views, you should not be able to. I will look into it (no pun intended)

SO the only way I can reproduce my head outside the canopy with it closed is if I close it with my head sticking out, but soon as I move my head, I am limited. So I cannot reproduce this.

This isn't quite the same but I feel is related--while taxiing with my head outside with the canopy open, there's a gap as indicated. I'm surprised this hasn't been fixed in the last 7 years I've owned the P-51 module.
