speed-of-heat
My landings on the boat have much improved... I no longer explode and most of the time I dont bolter all good there, , but I nearly always get a "wheelie" after I trap? e.g. as the nose of the aircraft rises pretty sharply raising the front gear of the deck... Other than "being less crap, any idea what I should do to correct this? Brun
That sounds very wrong. Are you maintaining on-speed AoA as you hit the deck, and not flaring? A video or track would no doubt help. speed-of-heat
I will catch one up, I thought it might have been "flare" instinct but, the last couple of attempts I have tried pushing the stick forward on landing . and yes AOA is pretty socked in all the way down the groove... CheeseCake
your not applying break are you?
shagrat
Sounds like you are braking and don't push the throttle into full mil power on touchdown? The wire pulls back against the hook, so if you break it pulls your nose up. Do not use brakes on carrier landings. ;) Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)
speed-of-heat
ahh :) OK that may be it I will check and make sure im not pressing on the pedals on landing :) SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware Intel Corei7-12700KF @ 5.1/5.3p & 3.8e GHz, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Dell S2716DG, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
Deano87
yep.. Don't touch the brakes at all during landing. Remember you should fly the landing like you're assuming you're not going to catch a wire, full power at touch down incase of a bolter and definitely not brakes. majapahit
Indeed ^^ when you hit the deck, immediately full throttle (or military if you're like me and military is 'good enough') no breaks. No engine power will have the wire pull you backwards and thus your nose wheel up if you're on the brakes and even if you are not. | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |
TechRoss
Also if you use brakes, you run the risk of not letting the wire pull you back when you have come to a stop, and then it can hang up on the hook and you can not get unhooked.
