Doubt it. -The SA-13 used in the film is optical/IR, so the above system warnings wouldn't even appear even if they did exist. -Let's say the first missile is the one that is destroyed in the fireball produced by dumping the fuel tanks. The first missile's time of flight is 173 seconds. The SA-13's missiles have a range of approximately 5km at a speed of approximately 517m/s. The real missile's max time of flight is roughly 103 seconds. -The second missile somehow caught up to the first missile in only 10 seconds....when the first missile already had a one-minute lead...and yet these missiles, traveling at 517m/s, have not hit the jet yet? -Fuel tanks don't explode when you jettison them. -The jet does a ~25G 180-turn to face the last missile head-on. Really? -They "dodge" the missile, but it scrapes the airframe. Why hasn't the proximity fuse gone off? -The missile does a 180-turn to reacquire them. Really? -Oh, now the proximity fuse goes off. -Shouldn't the RIO's ejection sequence automatically start the pilot's ejection sequence?

Let me add a few: - Once the fuse works, the missile discards its nose cone (which would be its guidance section) and it reveals a structure resembling a UB-32 rocket pod, which then proceeds to fire at the aircraft. In reality, the missile explosive charge is located behind the nose guidance and electronics, and once it explodes the pellets (which cause the actual damage to the aircraft) fly in an annular pattern. - Why, once the Hornet is hit and leaks fuel, the flame comes from BEHIND the aircraft and not from the aircraft itself? - Once ejected, the pilots still in their seats bang against each other (c'mon, what are the chances? and they ejected seconds apart...) - The pilots once ejected activate the parachute manually, when in fact the chute is released automatically. - And once they activate the cute, in the movie its a nice beautiful and convenient PARAGLIDER, when in reality its a round canopy. - And why the hell that paraglider is colored like the flag of Italy? Even tho I don't see how it can't be possible in real life, it does appear to be more of a ficitional thing as I've seen it in quite some games, including Starcraft 2's Misille Turret, but it's available only inside the Editor as a custom map feature, it's not used in the official game. Looney Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 From experience, the NATO Seasparrow missile will launch and have a burn time for an X amount of seconds, after that it will coast to its target, bleeding speed all the way. In effect, it won't smoke anymore so you won't see it coming in the first place. Secondly, it has an open hydraulic system, meaning that the servos that activate its flight surfaces have a limited amount of oil to play with, after the oil is gone, the missile is basically an expensive lawn dart. It can manoeuvrer three times or so and than it's out of oil. So, at launch, it will be proportionally guided to an impact point somewhere at the intercept of the tracks of both target and missile. If the target manoeuvrers, the missile looses speed and oil up to the point where it cannot manoeuvrer. The missile in the SA-13 is optical/IR guided so the exploding fuel tanks would make an excellent target for any IR missile, it's guidance totally blinded by the huge fireball. The RWR might go off due to the SA-13 carrying a small ranging radar but after launch, that's basically it. Burn time a couple of seconds and then it's over.
