True story. The Hornet is like riding a tricycle now. Thanks HB

Man, I think the DLC makes the F-14B silly easy to land on a carrier. Once you roll out on final, set On Speed AoA (should be close from the downwind portion anyway) and then use DLC to correct to final... only reason I got a one wire was because I turned my head and the headset cable/TrackIR cable slid the throttles back. Not even using Autothrottle which I'm sure makes it easier!

My very first landing with the Turkey, I caught the 4 wire. Not good, but then not bad either. I'm really enjoying this bird!

The only thing that makes it any hard in the Hornet is the 404GEs that don't spool as fast as they should. Haven't done a trap yet since I first want to familiarize with the airframe (too bad we don't have a NAS Miramar map), but approaches are easier to hold steadily in the Tomcat even when not using DLC, just because of the way better throttle reaction. On the other hoof it's easier in the Hornet to do controlled flight (that turn in the pattern) once trimmed on-speed since the FCS literally wipes out all the quirks it would have without.

The hornet is like a slow reacting youngster, when the F-14B will react nicely and stay in control at landings.

Someways the F/A-18C is backwards from the F-14B, but still many ways better.

At least what the F-14B has done is give even more respect to the Soviet designed aircrafts...

I can land with both of them, with all due diferences of course.

The thing I noticed was: the Hornet's tail hook does rebound up on the deck sometimes (and therefore it misses the cables)... with the Tomcat it never happened.

And, when landing at an airfield (Gudauta?), Jester just said in the intercom :

" Man that landing felt like stretching on a sofa! Nice! "
