My throttle is bricked (like so many have been doing) so I am trying to buy a new circuit board from Thrustmaster.

Website has been down for quite a while now. Scary...

The Hornet is best at killing things on the ground. Now, if we could just get a GAU-8 in the nose next to the AN/APG-65, a titanium tub around the pilot, and a couple of J-58 engines in the tail...

How old? Trying to justify purchase, but if a $469 stick and throttle does not last, like one would expect from the constant reviewers claiming it is "super well made and will last forever", then I can just get a cheaper saitek setup.

If you give up let me know...I need a bricked throttle. That means electrically dead, btw. All I need are the mechanical parts; I will handle the rest :joystick:

My TM joystick bricked about a month ago TM wanted 80.00 for a new board. I found a guy on E-bay that will repair your board for 25.00 plus 12 and change shipping. I sent mine to him for repair and 12 days later I got it back installed it and works fine. Go to Ebay and search TM Warthog and you will find him. Good luck.

Things sometimes break. It sucks when it does. My throttle is 8 years old and the board went bad two months ago and I got a new one within a few days. Easiest repair ever. On the flip side I had rudder pedals that went bad after a week and then the replacements have been flawless for two years. TM is definitely reliable

My very old original throttle finally bricked a while back. They were out of replacement boards and it would be at least a month before they would be available. So, I studied my options and buying an entirely new complete Warthog HOTAS was the most cost effective option.

I couldn't find a brand new set for $350 (the price I paid for my original), but I got one shipped from Germany for $370. It took a couple of weeks, but that left me with two sticks and a throttle. The new stick didn't have the sticktion problem of my original stick. Much smoother.

I recently got the replacement board, so now I have two complete Warthog HOTAS, but the pinky toggle switch on the left lever of the new throttle just broke. If you total all of the money I spent on both HOTAS sets, a replacement board for one throttle and a replacement board for one stick (to fix a failed trigger input) and divide that by the number of years since I bought my original Warthog, it was a cost-effective purchase compared to the cheaper, but far less durable "disposable" stick options. I love the throttle. I certainly don't regret buying the Warthog despite having to perform a couple of repairs and buying a 2nd one because I was impatient.

Despite having two Warthog sticks and a helluva nice aluminum extension, I bought a VKB MCG Pro when it was originally announced/released and haven't flown with a Warthog stick ever since it was delivered. If VKB could tweak their production rate a bit to meet demand and still maintain the quality, they could dominate the high end combat flight stick market. But I still have purposes for the Warthog sticks. One of them will be the primary stick for a 2nd home cockpit setup. The other is reserved for two purposes: acting as functionally correct sidestick for flying Falcon 4.0 BMS and as a tank gunner's stick for Steel Beasts Pro PE.

snip . . . .

I bought a VKB MCG Pro when it was originally announced/released and haven't flown with a Warthog stick ever since it was delivered.

I did the same but for me having the WH HOTAS for many years, I've grown very comfortable with TARGET script. I am however, having difficulty figuring out simple changes to the VKB Gunfighter stick. So many options to choose from and the manual is not (to me) user friendly.

I'm about to give up and sell the VKB and seriously will consider the F18 stick and base when it becomes available.

I have, in the last couple of days, reconnected my TM Stick and having a much easier time configuring the options for IO/UMD/CHAIN/SEQUENCE commands. It really opens up the options with a matched set.

The only thing I have against the TM Stick is the heavy spring and outdated gimbal system. They need to move fast to change the base.

But . . . . hey, that's me.

Cheers :)

ps: For clarification as it seems that many assume TARGET use means the basic TARGET program. Please note it is the TARGET SCRIPT EDITOR that I use.

I haven't touched my MCG Pro grip in ages, still prefer to fly with FSSB R3-Warthog grip, especially with the target software. I put the L-hand Kosmosima grip on my VKB base and use it purely as the RIO stick for F-14, lol.

I'm about to give up and sell...

Think this is the "perfect" solution for you (TARGET "addict") - an better (than) Tm base, with support (+ -) "bolt and play" for Warthog and F-18 grips, using TARGET. ;)

Thanks Sokol1,

This is quite the find. It might make all the difference for me.

Two things come to mind.

I see that the standard target program is being used in the example. I use the TARGET SCRIPT EDITOR. Quite different.

From the information, it seems to imply that the VKB Stick shows up in TARGET and therefore I assume that it still uses TARGET to program the buttons. If this is so, then I should be able to utilize TARGET SCRIPT EDITOR which is a very powerful tool and not subject to the whims of DCS changing the .lua file. Even the .lua files can't do what the SCRIPT EDITOR does. So my preference is for a number of reasons beyond what is discussed here and it certainly qualifies me as a TARGET SCRIPT Addict. :)

Thanks for this,

I will investigate further this afternoon and hope that I will be able to pair up my systems. I think that the VKB stick is physically superior in many ways to the WH Stick but the WH "System" is of greater value to me as a matched pair inter-programmable with modal buttons or switches.

Cheers.
