Can you group B-1B Bombers??

Been trying to get a group of B-1B bombers together with no luck. Only inserting them one at a time. Bit of a pain or can i group them afterwards?

 

 

Also, with having more than one, do you select group bombing in perform task, or is that only when you can have smaller bombers as a group?

"Heavies" can't fly in formation in DCS. Best you can hope for is copy and paste your lead aircraft and retarget the wingmen. You can also use the Follow action and set the X,Y, and Z distance values for wingmen to simulate formation. Crude but somewhat effective.

Do bombers fly in formation any more?

 

I did read that SAC had stopped the practice at one point due to concerns of being countered with air burst tactical nukes.

During Vietnam War B-52 fly on Cells. Not sure if Gulf war was applicable that Cell system.

Will that work with B-1/B-52s as well or just B-17?

It definitely works with B-52s, haven't tried with the B-1, but I've grouped about 30 B-52s in formation, carrying 51 mk-82s each is a good way to kill the frame rate :D

 

To add: Any aircraft in the ground attack role can be put into the WW2 big formation.
