viper2097 Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 Did not fly the Viggen for a longer time, came now back to it to enjoy it even more. I have a problem with the Rb-15f: I planned the mission on the F-10 map and everything worked perfect, beside that always both missiles hit the same ship, as you can see in the attached screenshots. (Tried 3 or 4 times over all) In those particulary examples, I once dropped them in standard mode (I think 80002?) and once I dropped them in 80003 mode. Standard (80002): 80003: If I'm useing Rb-04e in group selection, then they hit most time two different targets... So, can anyone help me out? Or at least, we could break down the differences in the modes a little better? I understand what they mean from the manual, but still it seems that my cruise missle always only get one target. I hope that it is ok to post screenshots from the Viggen manual: So did I select a wrong mode for that target group or was it just bad luck in a row? Are maybe the ships to narrow to each other? philstyle Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 I have had this happen to me almost every single time. I don't think the codes are working as intended. Now, I tend to re-set the target maker position between firing each Rb-15. If means a longer delay between missiles (thus exposing me to more anit-aircraft) but at least the subsequent missile doesn't just go to the same ship as the first one, 100% of the time. Mr_sukebe Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 There’s a switch on the right panel of the Viggen to select the the missiles select different targets. Can’t remember which switch, but it will be good in the manual. 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat
viper2097 Posted May 14, 2019 Author Posted May 14, 2019 (edited) You are talking about that switch: That one is used to switch with the Rb-04 between single (ENKEL) and a group target mode (GRUPP). When useing with the Rb-15 you switch between Standard (STD) and Selectable (VALB) mode. Standard means??? No idea... Maybe 800000? VALB means, that it does what it is told with the 80000x codes. IIRC, the switch is initialy always in the GRUPP/VALB position. I'm also not sure if 80000 or 80002 is the preset mode in VALB? However, at least with the 80003 mode it should have attacked two different ships... Edited May 14, 2019 by viper2097 Steam user - Youtube I am for quality over quantity in DCS modules

Hobel Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Similar problem I have with the Rb 04 or is this video to old? the shown does not work for me unfortunately
Fynek Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 (edited) :( No Viggen experts around? I am not an expert by any stretch, but from what i have read from youtube videos, 800002 does not work well and has this issue of always targeting the same ship as you experienced. A possible workaround is to use another code, 800001 seemed to work well for multi ships targeting though i did not test it lately and there is still a chance that they will hit the same target due to the random factor of the target selection by the missile in this mode. Another way could perhaps be to use STD mode ( single target or 800000) and shoot the missiles separately (shoot the first one then press Bx then 8, then slew the radar to another ship and press tv fix, then shoot) though it is kinda awkward. Maybe the bearing mode has potential as a workaround as well if you shoot them one by one? The best video i have found on the subject is by xxJohnxx though it is from 2 years ago : Edited July 5, 2019 by Fynek
RagnarDa Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Hi! I’ve noticed this issue and tracked down the problem: to make track replays reproducible I created my own random number generator by adding a bunch of variables together. Turns out that because of this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_limit_theorem the approach wasn’t truly random and evident here when the Rb15s are supposed to select targets at random but are more likely to select the same target. I changed it a bit so the Rb15s are less likely to engage the same ship (from like 90% chance to 10% chance). DCS AJS37 HACKERMAN There will always be bugs. If everything is a priority nothing is.
