Actually, I'd prefer if the environment was more like Ace Combat 6. Loved the whole environment - the sky marred with contrails and explosions, the constant AAA, abundant radio chatter...Not flight sim material at all, but there are things ED can definitely take note of in terms of generating the atmosphere of an actual battlefield.

 

Sterility can be a major buzzkill. In fact, the whole single-player aspect in Lock On replicates a series of training scenarios at best, IMO. The sense that you're alone in the Lock On world, as the only sentient being, is overwhelming. On the other hand, the sense of being on a battlefield is done very, very well in AC 6, from what the trailer and released game footage indicate so far.

I'm not totally stoked at the idea of blowing up a DG-808 :P

 

 

Black Shark will of course be better than that low down. Much better.

 

The high-resolution terrain mesh, clouds, and atmospheric effects in FSX are very good indeed, but only really visible from altitude. For Black Shark, things are just fine.

 

On the other hand, for the fighter projects in the far-off future . . . .

yeah...its good..but guys.. you have to remember.. the EFFECTS IN LOCK ON SUCK! Especially the explosions and so on. I remember that I was making the same comment when the movie was posted.. That smoke effect from the city is just amazing. It looks like the IL2 effects reloaded. Insane effects. Now that is how lomac fire and smoke should look like. Also the damage model in lock on sucks. For air hunters its fine...the aircraft have decent damage models..but look at the scenario for us ground pounders..you work soo hard evading sams and all and blast your target.. all u see is a stupid frame transition to a broken model black in colour with a fake looking fire which is easily seen as encompassed in a rectangle. A perfect example: look at a vehicle that is on fire after it has been destroyed...notice closely and the fire is in a BLOCK.

 

that is my gripes of graphics with lock on. My gameplay gripes seems to addressed: INFANTRY and a new ME. :D so I am happy about that. :D

Lock On engine will die/ crash/ stutter to hell if you add smoke and flame effects like that or in this quantity...

it can barely run well with overcast...

IL2 fire and smoke is just great from destroyed stuff on ground, it's tall, and runs fast! We should have it same way in Lock On... hm

I'm a mud mover as well, but the problem is easily solved: Put lil' pieces of ducktape over your targets and save your eyes from the monstrosity.

Well these sort of settings i can run on my pc but i need vista for it (no stutters)...

But definitely awsome, i really wish we could get graphics like these... Immersion factor is unbelievable....

This grafic movie is nice but empty as a shell.

No avionics working can be seen, no weapon modelling, no AI to load the CPU etcetcetc...

Its the kind of game you tire in 2 seconds fly around sightseen and ? And then what ? nothing.

 

The gripes with Lomac are :

Damage modeling sucks, 3 or 4 pre metches, wings that fall apart nicely with no visible frame structure.

No comments for ground damage...its even worse.

 

If as said Lomac could import some from IL2...

 

Other deceiving feature is the radio silence, lack of coms during battle, should have some broad channels, warused channels , squadron close channels etcetc.. So we can feel being in the middle of sumthing alive and not a canned box. In this regard F4 did itfairly well. Never seens the -whatever6-

 

Those are the 2 greats deficiency for LOMAC.

 

I would love a dinamic campaign a-la f4, but well, we know it won´t happen. Doesn´t even need as complex as F4, a DID EF2000 V2.0 would already be Great.. 15 year old game...
