heclak Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 There still seem to be part of the bug remaining from the exploding SFM aircraft/ground spawn bug which is specific to SFM aircraft. The physics of the nose wheel/suspension doesn't work if the speed is greater than 82 knots resulting in the nose wheel passing through the ground. The wheels also stop spinning which might indicate a physics engine issue. The conditions for this bug is: - mission started in the air - speed greater than 82 knots - SFM aircraft - apply forward stick when the nose wheel is on the ground Once the speed falls below 82 knots, the SFM suddenly changes and the nose wheel starts reacting normally. The aircraft nose will rise from the ground and nose wheel will stay on the ground. If the nose gear sinks too far and the nose collides with the ground, the aircraft will explode. This significantly affects the ability to land on a carrier due to the large stopping force of the carrier wires. Another part of the SFM bug is obvious when taking off from a ground start. The wheel physics seems to stop working at around 120 knots. This was observed as the wheel animation of the nose wheel will become frozen above that speed. There seems to be a possibility that there is an issue with the SFM code transiting between ground handling and flight physics. These issues were not observed before the beta patch dated 13 Feb 2019 and are currently still present in the latest open beta and stable release versions. norbot Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 Could we have an official statement from ED about this problem? Seems like being a general problem of SFM aircraft, because not only the A-4E but also the MB-339 is affected.
Svsmokey Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 While i understand the loss (particularly for the A-4) i don't feel it is reasonable to expect ED to support such modules in successive updates . While this one bug may not seem to troublesome to fix , the cumulative time involved in fixing new bugs for sfm modules in the update continium would be onerous for a company that didn't make a dime on their implementation . Better to lobby for an "official" A-4 module . 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2

Better to lobby for an "official" A-4 module . I disagree. Because this affects all aircraft with SFM, this has the potential to also affect all AI aircraft which are known to use SFM instead of the EFM/AFM/PFM that the player in the same airframe would have.

You make a good point . Are there any reports of similar behavior with AI aircraft ? The OP spoke of ""forward stick" as being one of the elements necessary to realise the problem . I know there's a mention of AI aircraft suspensions compressing while still on landing approach but before touching the ground. It was posted on Reddit but I'm not sure if it was reported here.
