fitness88 Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 I zero out wind so there is no wind, no weapons but the plane slowly rolls right anyway. Trimming will correct to level flight but I didn't think trimming is necessary in the F-18 except when landing with flaps. Some instant missions I have no issue with roll but some I do, all have no wind...would cross wind if there was, roll a plane? Any idea what is causing this? Thank you.
Wait4It Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 The hornet auto-trims only for pitch. Not for roll, so if you have something, like an asymmetric bombload, you will need to trim for roll. If you experience roll on a clean aircraft without wind, you may need to check your controller input. (Check with ctrl-enter)
ravagetalon Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 I've seen this before. One of the LEF, Leading Edge Flaps will get stuck 12 degrees down. All other flight surfaces being neutral, this will induce a roll. I'm not sure if its a bug or if there was damage to the plane. I've seen this on a freshly spawned Hornet.
Hog_No32 Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Usually the first thing you want to check in your case (if you haven’t yet) is to make sure your stick is properly calibrated. You can double check that in game by displaying the control axis overlay (or however that thing is called).
bbrz Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 ..would cross wind if there was, roll a plane? No. As long as you are in the air, (steady) wind doesn't affect any airplane at all. It's only the ground track and ground speed is affected due to wind. i7-7700K 4.2GHz, 16GB, GTX 1070
Scofflaw Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 My thrustmaster warthog gives a very slight right roll input, so I needed to put a deadzone. For some reason, it's slightly more pronounced on the Hornet. run come save me
fitness88 Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 (edited) I checked the FCS page and no LEF stuck at 12, both left and right wings are the same. Controller input is centered when I press ctrl-enter and is properly calibrated. No asymmetric bombload. both engines are at the same output. I have a dead zone of 3. The free flight in the Caucasus never gives me this issue and I fly it often for testing purposes. Thanks for the follow-up and the additional info, if you think of anything else please let me know. max22 Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Could be the joystick. Add some dead zone to see if you get any change. I had same problem for pitch.

Try setting a huge deadzone just to verify. The ctrl-enter display isn't sharp enough to show tiny roll inputs. run come save me
Mad_Max2 Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 I had the same issue months ago. Thought it was my stick but it wasn't. I'm really trying to remember what actually solved the issue.... I'm not so sure it wasn't an update. In other words I think it may just be a bug. I'm pretty sure it was when I experienced it.
vctpil Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Hi, There was a bug concerning the wind influencing the roll of the aircraft 2 or 3 updates ago. The problem was supposed to be solved, but I have the feeling after some tests that the bug is still there, with less influence. Sandman1330 Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Check your rudder input. If your rudder (whether twist stick or pedals) is not centering correctly, it will cause yaw which leads to roll. It can be easy to miss your rudder axis when checking your centering. fitness88 Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 Which instant missions cause the issue? Mostly multi-player and missions I've created is where I encounter this problem, and a couple of time flying PG, freeflight and/or ready on the ramp.
fitness88 Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 Could be the joystick. Add some dead zone to see if you get any change. I had same problem for pitch. I'll try going from 3-5 dead zone but ctrl-enter looks spot on center. I'll try doing what Scofflaw suggested next time I encounter it.
fitness88 Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 (edited) Yes, but the aircraft is rolling slowly left or right according to the wind direction. No, this can occur without wind. I'll try a deadzone for the rudder to test it as well. Again thanks all...I think it is a bug Edited July 4, 2019 by fitness88
fitness88 Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 Some further testing...definitely it's easy to reproduce a slow roll by asymmetric loadout which will immediately get corrected the moment you balance the loadout. I will continue to monitor. I'm being asked to produce a track file [.trk] but I only see saved .trk files in: C:\\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Tracks\Multiplayer
Ramsay Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 (edited) I'm being asked to produce a track file [.trk] but I only see saved .trk files in: C:\\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Tracks\Multiplayer You have the option to save a track file in the SP mission debrief, multiplayer tracks are saved automatically. How to save a track for support and future replay Please fly the mission showing the problem. Then close the mission, during the debrief screen you can save track. This track can be found in C:\Users\<User_name>\Saved Games\DCS[openbeta]\Tracks For support, please attach this track and we will take a look into the issue.
