TGP and Mav F

There must be something you're doing wrong. I can even designate a TGT with the tpod and not only the MAV F will slave to it but also auto lock 100% of the times. I tested it extensively.

Apologies and thanks also to you.

I would like to know if in real life the AGM-65F blocks objects such as trees, buildings, street lamps, etc. Because, although I managed to use them to knock down moving targets with the TGP, when the targets are in populated areas, the pointer always enslaves any object. I find it more effective to use the designator of the missile head than the TGP, although the image offers a much lower resolution and less distance.

I am using AGM-154C in TOO TGP mode for priority targets such as static SAMs to not get too close and AGM-65F for moving targets, which is the escort of a convoy. The problem is that if I use AGM-154C first, then nothing works with AGM-65F.

Finally I have to apologize and thank you for the intention to help and patience. I have managed to shoot moving targets through the TGP with the MAV F. As soon as I finish processing the video, I will attach it.

It is completely possible to block mobile targets.

Can you attach that mission? Or is it already in DCS? I'd like to try that out.

Unfortunately, this also applies to A-10C. Maverick and TGP catch street lamps (also during the day). Which is quite a serious mistake and is very annoying. The problem has existed for a long time, it has been described, but unfortunately there is no answer.

Not at all unrealistic. It's just an object that can have both visual and thermal contrast to lock on to. The Maverick seeker has not idea what is a vehicle and what is not.

Not quite true. There are a lot of pilots (real ones) that told stories of about mavericks locking bushes and stuff like that.

Thanks NineLine Then, one last question is whether the autonomous AGM-65F objective designation system will be available with its initial resolution, because at this time the resolution does not allow the identification of the objectives as before the update and after synchronizing the MAV F with TGP, for some reason the designator is blocked. This would avoid the problem of TGP synchronization and blocking unwanted targets. Forgive me for putting so much force in this matter, but for me the AGM-65F are fundamental, since they are the perfect weapon to shoot down moving targets autonomously. Thank you.

Of course, there is no Maverick what is a vehicle and what is not, but catching a street lamps in broad daylight when a vehicle is driving along the way? Like during the day this lantern is supposed to radiate thermally?

I think my friend "NineLine" has not been flying A-10C for a long time and has not seen this problem. During the day, catching a vehicle on the road, where there are streetlights, is very difficult, you need to fly very close.

Do the lanterns radiate heat so much when they are off?

The problem applies to all street lamps, regardless of the time of day, these are not accidental or rare situations that a colleague describes

"Imigrant", only continuous. I suggest you fly A-10C and check it yourself.

The lamps are made of metal, so cool/heat up at a different rate to the ambient background temperature.

Twice a day the thermal Diurnal Cycle/Crossover makes the contrast between a target and ambient background minimal - AFAIK it isn't modelled in DCS.

I'm not sure how big an issue street lamps are IRL but electricity pylons and railway tracks have strong IR signatures.

IR Mavericks have a record of sometimes tracking the wrong IR source i.e. a shadow that's cooler than the target, etc., IMHO allowing the seeker to lock the 'wrong' object, makes it more realistic, forcing players to launch at RL ranges and/or plan their ingress appropriately.

Vs DCS's AI, a gun run is usually sufficient for AI tanks to 'disperse' off roads and become easy pickings.

I deal with them this way.

I don't mind when Maverick caught something strange sometimes, a hot stone in the sun, a bonfire left by partisans. Because it actually adds some realism. However, street lamps are a bit exaggerated, it does not matter the time of day, time of year, whether they are on or off. They attract Maverick's attention like a red canvas for a bull ...
