This past update with the fixes to shadows those who did not delete their fxo and metashaders 2 folders may have suffered a massive performance and stability downturn. I personally lost ~10fps and loading times were doubled even when loading into the mission editor. One of the people I fly with had a similar impact but his game also became unstable and would crash over 50% of the time when trying to load into MP. That is until we both delted these two folders and everything went back to normal. This experience lead us to ask why is there no auto delete function built into the DCS updater to delete these after each update?

It's become just a general practice for me. Delete the fxo and metashader2 folders after any update push. Will be great that this becomes just part of the standard patch updates...

Agreed if there is a checkbox to turn it on and off before update starts.

Can I please resurrect this request.  If we can't have an option on the update box, can it please be added as a checkbox with the DCS settings?

I created a batch file a year or two ago to auto delete all the folders that should be deleted after an update. All I have to do is click it and it’s done. I’m about to leave on vacation but I’ll upload it here when I get home from work tonight…assuming I remember.

EDIT: I've attached the batch file. You'll need to open it with NotePad++ and replace the items in parentheses with your installation's information. So, for instance, the line: @RD /S /Q "C:\Users\(Your User Name)\Saved Games\(Your DCS Installation Name)\FXO" might become @RD /S /Q "C:\Users\Mike\Saved Games\DCS.Openbeta\FXO"

This batch file is set up to delete the FXO, metashaders2, and your installation's temp files in the AppData/TEMP folder. I have mine copy on my Desktop and just double click it to run it.
