weasel75 Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 They had radios back then, too. ;) But weren't they using a different set of frequencies back then? And freely switching frequencies was also a "luxury" not available for those pilots back then .... but I'll wait and see ;) basic for translators ...
AlphaOneSix Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 But weren't they using a different set of frequencies back then? The VHF frequency ranges are pretty close to the same, although they do start and end in different places, there is a bit of overlap. And freely switching frequencies was also a "luxury" not available for those pilots back then .... but I'll wait and see ;) Nah you got me here, the VHF frequencies were preset.
weasel75 Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Thanks! .... so there is hope for an active radio-chat with ATC at URSS/Со́чи  ... and I even dare to dream of some chat with an JTAC in contact :pilotfly: basic for translators ...
RIPTIDE Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Just ff to 0:50...but you shouldnt because the rest is just awesome. The only thing I saw was the thing fall out of the sky into a ball of flames? Probably there are better vids out there? I remember in Janes Fighters Anthology you could fly that aswell as the X-29. They even had the thrust vectoring working... kinda. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
hitman Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Thats the only video I know of that shows all of the X-31 capabilities. mvsgas Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 More accurately, A old F100 IHI engine versus a newer more powerful F110. But you are right GE engine are better :D To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
aaron886 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 And yet who keeps getting all the biggest contracts? Reeks of rotten politics eh. P&W = Practically Worthless.

mvsgas Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 (edited) And yet who keeps getting all the biggest contracts? Reeks of rotten politics eh. P&W = Practically Worthless. :D Cheapest bidder, not best product. If I tell you, buy 10 engine for the prices of 5 of the competition and they produce the same power. Which one would you get? If I offer more supports, services and parts ( because I know that it is less reliable, but I neglect to tell you that) Which one seem more beneficial? All joking aside, many aircraft use PW engines with no problems, I just don't like them. The video with F-15J and the F-2, their very different engines, we don't even know if the F-15 was using max power, hard to judge since we have so little info. tflash Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Very unnerving that they can't pinpoint the exact cause; see this only one day older post: http://www.dodbuzz.com/2012/02/28/f-22-raptor-smoking-gun-not-found/ Shows just how complex these planes have become. Strangely enough, to me it adds credibility to LM's claim they are truly new generation fighters: breaking new ground means that you meet again the unexpected. I'm glad they are reviewing Jeff Haney's case. Absolutely beyond decency to blame the pilot when so much mystery is still unsolved. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
