Calicrook Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 I'm running across and issue and I'm not sure If I'm doing something wrong or what the issue is. So I loaded up the plane with two GBU-12's TGP. All laser codes are set to 1688. Go into AG mode and find a target and put it into point track mode. My only issue is that I don't have any way points set up except for an initial way point which is the airport so the bomb fall line for CCRP stays on that airport. Is there a way to create a SPI from the TGP so it moves the bomb fall line? Or am I missing a step? Thanks everyone! i7-6700k| 32GB ram| GTX 2080 founders edition| Oculus Rift 2 My WIP Youtube
AleCisla Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Are you pressing the trigger to activate the laser? Or "fire" the laser? So you can see the "L" flashing...? I had it working with no problems. Also, I don't think you need a waypoint to drop the bombs, as I didn't have when I tried and it worked.
Ziramond Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 I think he is having the same issue i had with the TGP which is an inability to set a target on the ground using the targeting pod. Doing so would change the ASL and allow it to guide him onto target. I have no doubts that the laser and the bombs work, but I have yet to be able to set a point on the ground for me to fly towards and drop bombs on.
TheGuardian Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 I have not had any issue using the TGP with GBU-12s. With the TGP set SOI, pressing the TMS Up Short changes from Area to Point track and my CCRP drop line will be in the right position.

I TMS up and the bomb fall line does not change. Not an issue with lasing or anything of the sort just getting guidance to the area I want to bomb. i7-6700k| 32GB ram| GTX 2080 founders edition| Oculus Rift 2 My WIP Youtube
razo+r Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 You have to add some waypoints (via ME) otherwise the fall line will stay glued to the side. You can still use CCRP and drop bombs though, you only have to guess the release point.
AleCisla Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Oh I see!!! Sorry. I'm gonna try that now... also, TheGuardian said in his post "pressing the TMS Up short"... which sounds like a very quick press of the button, less than 1 second. I'll test and report back.
Calicrook Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 Just landed so I'll reload and try short as well but from what I did before didnt seem to do anything i7-6700k| 32GB ram| GTX 2080 founders edition| Oculus Rift 2 My WIP Youtube

And then the TPOD should be slewing around, move it to the target and TMS up (lock tgt button), and this should re-set the WP/steerpoint to be on top of the target. This works offline for me. Online I have no WP's so I'm struggling to figure that out. New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. Fri13 Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 I think I have similar, but yet different problem. I can't even sleeve TGP around. I can sleeve radar, but TGP does nothing. When I select TGP, I enable it so I get picture. The TGP is slaved to CCIP so it follows that nicely. But once I depress uncage to lock it on ground, the TGP screen freeze. Where ever I fly, I have just that last frame in it. I can switch to A/A mode and back and that same frame stays there. If I select CCRP, the TGP should be slaved to active steerpoint like Wags video shows, but on me it will jump somewhere and shows just Grey even when steerpoint is front of me. Couple times I have got it locked on ground and seen it is live, but still can't sleeve it anywhere. It is just on frozen mode or slaved to CCIP. I have gone trough Wags video about it, tested own missions and nothing makes it go. I haven't tested repair yet, as I have other problem too. DMS switch aft doesn't always switch between left and right MFCD (change SOI) but I need to first go to HUD and then back to other MFCD and maybe switch page on other first to get Aft to switch SOI. Just completely buzzard.... i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
Harlikwin Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 (edited) Hi Fri13, Similar issues. But I have gotten it working fine offline with CCRP. I don't think you can slew it in CCIP mode. Working from memory. Hit A/G button, make sure GBU is selected. Turn on TGP, it should be slaved somewere, make sure its in AG mode, It may default to AA mode. Then I switch to CCRP mode on the bombs, and the TGP points to that spot (I was flying right at it), then make sure to switch back to the TGP so its SOI, and it should be slewable. Make sure to turn on your laser button to lase. Online... WIP, since I don't have any steerpoints/waypoints. Supposedly in CCRP mode you can hit TMS/aft and it will return to boresight, after which you can look around (I have not tested this, but have been told it works). Also make sure you axes for the TGP are curved/flat etc, mine was ultra janky to use until I super-curved em. TGP is slewable BUT TMS up on a target does not move the bomb fall line from the initial waypoint(which is where I turned on the aircraft). I only tried one mission so far so maybe another one will fix this. i7-6700k| 32GB ram| GTX 2080 founders edition| Oculus Rift 2 My WIP Youtube
AleCisla Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Well, I haven't tried anything in MP yet, but from what you guys are saying, I know what to expect then.. In offline mode, as the TheGuardian said, a quick press forward of the TMS button will cycle between AREA, POINT and INS, which I didn't know untill now, so thanks for that! :) And the same button used for the nose steering wheel can change from CCIP to CCRP and another mode I can't remember now, but just realise that one too... Fri13, I think what's happening to you is that you're not making the TGP your SOI... try that first using Harlinkwin instructions and it should work. Now, I have a question, still related to the TGP, as I saw on Waggs video, he zoomed in and out using what kind of control? I tried using the antena elevation, but it's not that one... does anyone knows what control the zoom on the TGP? Please.
Calicrook Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 Yeah, what I'm figuring out is that when there is no waypoints set up, the bomb fall line does not move, making your point track pointless i7-6700k| 32GB ram| GTX 2080 founders edition| Oculus Rift 2 My WIP Youtube
AleCisla Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Calicrook, I'll try to set up a mission with no waypoint and see how that works then whatever I find out, I'll post here. By the way, I found the zoom function on the TGP, is under "MAN RNG knob", which is manual range I guess.... many keybindings have COMPLETELY different names and terminologies on the F-16, I'm spending more time trying to find names and keybindings than actually flying... :megalol:
AleCisla Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Ok, same problem as you and I couldn't find a solution. Mission with a few ground targets, no waypoints set up, took off, got TGP ready, everything else ready to go... and the line was fixed in a different location (where I came from I guess) and no way to make it stay on the top of that target. Tried everything I could think of, so I guess it's a bug, probably will be fixed soon. However, I tried to drop the bomb and fire the laser to see what would happen... and I did hit the target! haha.. don't know how, but it worked...kind of...

CaptJodan Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 I was curious about this stuff as well. I take it that simply caging the TGP to the front then uncaging and moving it to a target is not implemented yet, and that's why we're having trouble. You need those waypoints right now to be in the ballpark.

So on some OL servers today (not yesterday) they have added 1 WP for the viper that you can basically slew around. New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. Airhunter Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 I find that you simply can't use the TGP online as there is no way of setting ot knowing the bomb laser code. You also can not self-designate any target waypoints via the HUD right now. I am locking something up in POINT track, releaseing it by judgement and lasing but the bomb does not hit.

I would assume its 1668 the default code. But you should ask the server owners, or they should state it in the briefing. I do have a GBU hit O/L so it does work. But honestly at this point I'm just defaulting to dumb bombs because its that much of PITA... New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. GhostLeadOne Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Can Confirm Both me and a friend have had this problem. Without a preset Waypoint, even sometimes with, I can't reset my target point with slew.
