ILS in Kutaisi

Hi folks!

 

Did anyone manage to have correct ILS indications in Kutaisi?

According to the map and charts, ILS frequency for runway 08 (74°) should be 109.75 MHz.

All is set in the pit, I am in PLS NAV mode, but I can only see a dashed cross showing

nothing, also on the ADI the needles are on top left receiving nothing.

ILS audio rotary knob on audio 2 panel is out of OFF position.

 

Multiplayer, current OpenBeta.

I was about 10 to 4 miles away while testing it, in good altitude.

The picture was taken 15 miles away from runway, but even if I got to 2 miles no signal at all.

Yeah, I don't know. I'm doing my tests on an ILS going the other direction. Oh! was the weather favoring that runway? If wind is causing ATC to use other direction, ILS won't be on, I think.

Weather? Nothing that I know. See picture, shouldn't be too bad for ILS :D

It is the runway that ATC gave me, wind is 070/03.

no, but what are the winds. If wind isn't favoring 08, then ILS might not be powered. Try in no wind, if you did have wind.

 

 

If you didn't have wind, call ATC and verify they are using 08.

 

 

Ah okay. Hmmm......I'm thinking. According to what I'm seeing, you're a about 2,000 feet high in the picture for the distance from runway. But, you should still have indications.

 

 

Yeah, you should at least have a localizer.

I noticed your Command Steering is OFF. Try turning that ON and see if that changes anything. How did you do that anyways? I couldn't figure how to turn it off.

Ah there you go. I guess you have to have CMD Steering ON (highlighted) to work.

 

 

Also I'm discussing about how 14 miles the GS comes on in my own thread, which doesn't seem right.

I understand the manual as this: it is highlighted when a signal is received.

 

In reality GS and LOC don't come at the same time on most ILS.

Have seen a few, GS often comes late.

Command Steering Symbol. This symbol will be displayed on the HUD to guide you through the approach when valid localizer data is received. A tic mark appears on the symbol when nearing the center of the glideslope to indicate the pitch steering data is valid.

My understanding is that’s just an equivalent of a flight director for ILS. It shouldn’t affect if ILS works or not.

If you look closely at his pictures, he did. Problem was he wasn’t getting signal for unknown reason.

Also, I think you may have turned off CMD STEERING by pressing the zero M-SEL button then enter on the ILS page. I read that somewhere.

Hm, this might be the case.

 

Maybe I find time to re-produce this within the next days.

Or even go back and load the track file if I find it ... I heard track files are working with the F-16 :)

I wasn't able to reproduce this issue so far.

Back from the dead, I am now having this issue after the 2.8.4 update.  ATC requests landing on RWY 07, no ILS received.  This mission worked in 2.8.1

I was able to land RWY 07 with ILS. Localizer came in range before glideslope, everything seems fine. See track 2023-05-08_F-16C_Landing_Kutaisi_ILS_RWY07.trk.

edit: I did a second flight, this time at wind 250/06, and Kutaisi turns off the ILS (2023-05-08_F-16C_Landing_Kutaisi_noILS_RWY07.trk).

So everything works as intended. Kutaisi has only one ILS - for RW 07. Since you set the wind 250/06 the active RWY changes to 25, there's no ILS for that direction and the one for 07 is deactivated.
