personally and as a customer. Ed should put a Priority on the last Patch of LOFC and then continue with DCS:BS. After all how long would it take to address some of the problems of LOFC. Some of the fixes I would agree are low priority and would not expect time wasted but there are a small no. of high priority fixes that should not take that long to correct and that should be their last priority to LOFC. Then put out there new Product. All would be happy and ED's trust would be restored. IMHO.

To be honest - they will do what they want to do. If they cared about our opinion, we would have had a flyable F/A-18C, even a couple of European aircraft too (like the Jaguar and the Rafael) not to mention a larger map and more objects by now. With that said - this new announcement just solidifies what we have all known all along:

LOFC - Old and busted, DCS:BS - New hotness

If they listened to everyone we'd have LOFlamingCliffs, LO2Hornets mound, LO3EuroAlps, LO4WorldDomination, LO5.....

Actually if you look at their point of view, working on BS is their best option since its their new product and it would generate more money for them. FC sales should be slowing down by now so they have to work on their new product to stay in business so there at least would be a patch in the future. But i think this is a good thing, once they have completed BS, maybe some of the fixes, models, effects they gained from that could be carried over to FC in a patch. If they release one now, it would probably be a half-assed job since they still want to work on BS and that's the end of story of patches for FC since we're lucky to get one in the first place. And since it would be a rushed job, it won't be fully tested and more people will complain. So i guess its best to let them do what they want and hopefully they will return to us with a patch one day.

No matter how many patches they release, people will still complain that something isnt right. ED just doesnt have the resources to do both at the moment. Be thankful that they released some patches already.

Depends on which problems. To address "some of the problems" would require starting a whole new sim from scratch.

Of course, it's also possible to start a whole new sim from scratch, and still not address ANY of the problems... but that's beside the point of your already-too-vague topic, I think.

So if I read between the lines, you are satisfied to buy a product that only 1/2 or 3/4 of it works and you don't expect any support. Good For you. They know there resources, but no excuse for not supporting their own errors. If you bought a new TV and it had some problems you would be happy with that product and no support. Boy your one in a million. Good on you.

Which 1/2 or 1/4 do you find that does not actually work?

Sorry for being vague. What I have previously said in this thread is fix what they broke from 1.02. I don't expect a big patch, just a few priorty fixes that would make the sim close to what it was in 1.02. in other words things that they tweaked but didn't work. Thats all I want to see.

Well, certainly more than 1/2 of my amraams doesn't seem to work ;) Could be me of course, or the seeker thingy.

Anyway, I'm not interested in ED's priorities, I have my own life. And hey, EvilBivol-1 just learned us we were overestimating our value by being enthousiastic forum members. Who am I to contradict such wisdom?

I guess everyone that sees problems is dreaming. Glad you like the new tweak to the F15 Missles etc. Glad Your'e happy.

So now ... can everyone point me to the requirements document that said 'more than 1/2 my AMRAAMs should work' and 'This is the functionality I want in the debriefing'?

Ah wait. Such a thing doesn't exist. And if such a thing doesn't exist, and there's no show-stopping bugs (such as crashes, etc), the game is not broken. You might not like it, but that's how it is.

ED wants to fix some of these up, but when this happens depends on resources. This isn't going to change, no matter how much you hop up and down and scream your virtual heads off. And you're not going to change ED's priorities, either.

What's the point of this? All the little snarky remarks that are being tossed about are pretty much a waste of everyone's time and nerves.

SKF: I can see what you are saying. What I am trying to say is the tweaks they made from 1.02 that did not work fix before DCS:BS. DCS:Bs is not due till 2008. How long would it take to fix their own tweak problems. I don't think it would delay DCS:BS by any appreciable amount. I may be wrong, you know more than me on this stuff but that's the way I see it. Then LOFC will be finished and we can get on with a new Product.

Still too vague.

If you're talking about missiles (as others often are), then I assure you from experience that they are very, very hard to do. Virtually anything you ever change will make them worse.

Do you remember what the range of an AMRAAM was in 1.02? Like Sidewinders.

By that standard, there has never been any bug in any ED product. Small use we have for testers then. :P

If the programmer who wrote it says it's a bug, it's a bug. To call it "intended feature" after that is no longer honest.

Sure, that I'll go with that. So how many bugs like that do we have? ;)

Well since you ask, there ALSO that whole "you're right, the F-15 flight model is broken, I promise to fix it" thing after four years...

How far that went.

-SK

Right ... and that correction has been on the list since. Though that in and of itself is not a bug. So, which standard are we going to go by? 'I say it is a bug, therefore it is'?

Has anyone here ever attempted to change coding for a game or a program? Its a major pain the the butt. A lot of the times parts of the code depend on each other. So if you make a change to part A of the code, it will have a ripple effect all the way down to part Z. This means that sometimes you have to change each bit of code that each part is dependent on. Another thing is that a lot of the people who did the coding for lockon are not part of ED anymore. This means that the current coders have to go back and learn how the previous guys did the coding. I personally am content with the game now, sure it has room for improvements, but what game doesnt
