Has anyone experienced issues with TACAN/ILS on the NTTR map in the Viper?

I've tried Nellis AFB

TACAN 12X, ILS 109.1MHz 208 True

It doesn't seem to line up with the runway. TACAN range is all wrong.

I've also tried McCarran and the same.

got similar TACAN issues on the persian gulf map with the Viper. Range and heading led to a point somewhere in the gulf (water) with nothing close to it. (e.g. channel 99X "MIN" when you start the standard gulf free flight)

I've had no issue with at least Khasab on the PG map.

try the standard free flight on persian gulf map

tune in 99X T/R

it will lead you north

at 58nm diplayed distance it moves from N to W

at 106nm the blue tacan needle starts to flicker all the way till you finally hit the station

I had the issues on the NTTR map.

I turned the MIDS off and then on again, that solved it for me.

will try this. thanks

EDIT: did not work for me. I was still led to the north. the shown distance decreased and then increased without flying over any station and at (the 2nd) 58nm, TCN needle turned from N to W. Tried to switch MIDS off/on several times.

I also had issues last night on PG map with a tanker tacan. the line on the EHSI pointed somewhere off into the ocean, and the range kept varying until I got within 10 miles.

tried some TACAN stations on NTTR map. and all of them showed up with the right bearing and range.

odd thing: 98X MVA north of Mina Airport was in range (showed correct bearing) from over 230nm (did not show right distance values though, I took the distance from F10 map)

just tried rwy 21L with your data and it worked for me. (using stable DCS)

I’ve flown several Hard IFR approaches to Nellis both TACAN and ILS and per the published approaches I’ve broken out right on the centerline and on glide slope every time.

12X .. 109.10 .. 208°

OK. I've been trying (with no success) with some fog and wind. TACAN/ILS doesn't work.

I set the weather to a clear day, and it WORKS??!!

Attached is the mission file with weather. Am I doing anything wrong??

Yes I also find the same problem, the ILS can only work properly in good weather,in FOG or NIGHT the ILS can't get its signal, the HSI is alway a dotted line.

I've been flying this same mission at 0300hrs, autumn night, no fog, and TCN/ILS seem to work.

Just used your attached mission to perform an ILS or LOC/DME X 21L KLSV. Used the TACAN to reach the intercept point, used the ILS to break out and visually acquire Nellis, landed to a full stop. Both navaids functioned properly, and were positively identified via Morse code.

On you're asking about ILS alignment.. I seemed to be more aligned with 21R but I wasn't sure if that was pilot error or navaid error. Let me try it again.

Nope, even in your posted mission the ILS is still acceptably lined up with 21L.

PG Map has some TACAN channels used twice, it is a known issue:

So depending on where you are you will receive the "wrong" station.

And that's why listening to the morse code is important rather than annoying :D

The morse code did not change and the Viper displays the TCN code in letters on the DED which did not change neither. So it is not that simple ;)

Now that's rude! I also agree that fixing the PG errors would be more sensible still! :D

I just had a similar issue tonight on the stable release with NTTR tacans. I tried a published approach (ILS 25R) to McCarron and the TACAN worked but the ILS would not come up - no needle movement. I also dialed in Nellis Tacan and the bearing needle and DME were initially correct and then it froze and would not update. I changed TACAN Freqs to Creech and then back again to Nellis and it started showing correct readings again. This happened again the next time I flew with the Nellis tacan and again had to change to something else and then back again before it would work. Weird.

Did you have the ILS Volume knob turned up so you hear the Morse Code?
