Grimes Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Believe it or not it is possible to have DX10 features run on a DX9 card. It just takes clever programming on the software side and that the hardware isn't fully optimized for a specific feature. Valve has a few DX10 "only features" in its DX9 orange box. But yeah, there is no hope for a dx upgrade of Lockon. Unless they release the source code and modders overhaul it. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Well, i saw Realease Note #1 video, and the runaway and grass, looks exactly the same as lomac dx8. I saw in other games DX 9.C and the effects are very nice. Hope to see it in BS Greetings

S77th-GOYA Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Graphics Comparison That's a graphics comparison between: IL2 4.08 LO FC 1.12a FSX Acceleration DX9 (with GraphicsX installed) FSX Acceleration DX10 All graphics are maxed in each pic. IMO, Oleg's water is still easily the best. LOFC's is pretty bad because of the tiling. Terrain goes to DX10. Go figure. But it isn't much different from the FSX DX9 terrain.
Kuky Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I too think IL-2 water does look best and most natural, but regarding terrain, I think MSFS doesn't take 1st place because to me the terain still has unnatural colours. and down low LockOn terrain is much better. It's just that LockOn terrain has very pale look to it... No longer active in DCS...

If you look at the low altitude LO shot and consider where the light is coming from, the coastline should be quite dark. But it is lit just as much as areas in direct sunshine.
