fitness88 Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 I don't know when it was implemented but last night I was finally able to remove the wing pylons...nice bump in speed:pilotfly:
Bobik2002 Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 It's pretty long time don't know exactly Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk Ryzen 9 5900x | 32GB DDR4 | RTX 3090 | 32GB RAM
SonofEil Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 Pylons have been removable since the Hornet's first or second update back in Spring 2018. DLEGION Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 ...and seems there is no drag modeled for them, so no "speed bump" … because you're already going as you have no pylons at all !
bfr Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 ...and seems there is no drag modeled for them, so no "speed bump" … because you're already going as you have no pylons at all ! I know it (modelling for drag with/without) was on the 'to do' list pretty much from the day removing them was enabled as an option. No idea if it was ever done though.
Preendog Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 Drag is not currently modeled for pylons, gear cover damage, or removed canopy. You can go faster by breaking surfaces off your plane, though. Remove both wingtips and achieve 800kts on the deck.
Kang Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 Main reason for implementing this option was that the pylons looked a little out of place on the Blue Angels skin.
bies Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 In F-16 when you remove pylons you decrease drag and bump your speed. In F/A-18 it is not yet modeled. But it's EA so no problem.
