F l a n k e r Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Ehi, I found this topic of Cizh http://www.forum.lockon.ru/viewtopic.php?t=3187&sid=e9c515fa766a5b176a9e00c30afe2239 with some screenshot of the new missiles. KuostA Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 Strikemax @ the UBI forum Definitely the one on the left (1). Looks more realistic by FAR. The one on the right looks like the rubber just came off the rubber factory still fresh and hot a few seconds ago. Left one looks more worn, realistic, dull (for A tire thats great), and just overall more apealing as a tire. Love the detail your putting into everything..keep it up!
Pilgrim Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 It looks amazing. Keep up the good work. :) ASUS P4T533-C|P4 3.06@3.45|1024Mb Kingston 1066 rambus|ATI 9.... *EDITED* - Listen to Mods!!!
britgliderpilot Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 For some reason I only get a redex on those images - any chance of a rehosting? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
KuostA Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 naw, dont worry brit, The screenies seem to be going down every few minutes as of now in this small timeframe. I guess its gone over the bandwith or has had some sort of complication. Just keep checking back if you ever get the X again, and it should be back up. As of this instant..it is. :D
SilentEagle Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 I need some help here!! Does anyone know ANYWHERE on the internet where i can find detailed aircraft plans with cross section views...not just the stupid 3 view sheets that doesn't help me at all... I need the really detailed ones like ED used!!! Thanks, SilentEagle
F l a n k e r Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 I know only http://www.aviacherteg.narod.ru/ It has many good detailed aircraft plans, but is in russian and many of the plans are off line... Click on ЧЕРТЕЖИ for the plans and МОНОГРАФИИ for the monografies. The aircraft are ordered in tree periods (WWI, WWWII, and today). Good luck! PS. MiG-29 http://www.aviation.orc.ru/mig/mig29-c.htm MiG-25 http://www.aviation.orc.ru/mig/mig25-c.htm
F l a n k e r Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 Check also this: http://www.airwar.ru/other/drawe.html It seems good.
Skywall23 Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 Strikemax, how many poly's do your Su-27 has, without the landing gear? Because 1440 polys for a single tire seems too much. 3*1440=4320. And this is just the tires. You still have to get the rest of landing gear, weapon racks and canopy, as well as other minor tweaks. Will you hold the polys behind the 50000 barrier? :?
britgliderpilot Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 Got the pics to load - this project is looking fabulous. Looks like there's still some way to go before it's in a truly usable state (weapons pylons, animations, damage models), but if it can be done then it's going to be utterly drool-worthy . . . . . mmmn . . . http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
britgliderpilot Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 Ah! :o Well that's either someone designing something for Ann Summers "Special" range . . . . . Or someone modelling a new F16. Nice. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
SilentEagle Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 well it looks good from here but it is all screwed up!!
knellknell Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Hmmmm At least 9.000 polygones, maybe 10.000 for this early stage ??? Are you sure to use the good way to do it ? (just for the nose, before the first subdivision, almost 1.500 polygons ..:( ) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Alfa Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Strikemax, how many poly's do your Su-27 has, without the landing gear? Because 1440 polys for a single tire seems too much. 3*1440=4320. Well I dont know much about polygon count, but can I just say that if the model is meant for Lock-on, it would be better to not include the weapons racks with the model at all ;) . In Lock-on 1.1, the new Su-25T model loads seperate launcher/weapon combinations. With the current MiG-29 model, loading an R-73 means assigning the R-73 3D shape directly to a fixed pylon on the aircraft model, but on the new Su-25T model you are instead assigning a combination of the R-73 shape + a corresponding APU-73 launcher shape to the wing. In other words the launcher rack 3D shape is seperate from the aircraft just as the weapon shape is. This provides a more accurate depiction of how weapons are loaded to an aircraft - examples: The R-73 is loaded with its corresponding APU-73 rack The R-77 is loaded with its corresponding APU-170 rack ....if no weapon is loaded to a wing station, no rack is either.....just as on the real aircraft :) . Of the top of my head, I think the only launchers shapes currently missing in order to cover the full range of weapons the Su-27 can carry, are the APU-470(wing launcher) and AKU-470(engine intake launcher) racks for the R-27 missiles(all versions) . Cheers, - JJ. JJ

Lol that was only like 6000 polys but now I have the nose, radar antenna, cockpit area, leading edge, intake, and the part that mouts the intake DOWN TO 4000 now...

Yes but you have change the complexity of the mesh :) (evident in wireframe view :) ) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Guest Dlink Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 You guys are really doing some nice work!! But surely there has to be more people in the Lomac community that could do this type of work? I really wish I had these kind of skills, I would probably work on a Jaguar or maybe some more ground vehicles. Thanks for putting in your time and effort guys, I hope ED will honor you by incorporating these models into the sim!! Yes, there are probably a bunch of people. The problem is that without the capability to import the models ourselves we have no assurance that our models would ever end up in the game. I for one can't imagine working on a model for weeks (or months) only to have it rejected for one reason or another and end up with nothing in the end.
Allochtoon Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Hi guys, Strikemax, i must say you are doing an excellent job in modeling that bird, you never told me you had any experience with 3dsmax during the time i used to fly with you. For the mig21 lovers, i am still in the process of trimming the polies of the bird down a bit, while keeping the quality modeling of Johan. By the way, are there any special moving parts of the mig21 i should know about? I hope i can post some pics, take care,
F l a n k e r Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Good to hear you again, Allochtoon. And good question! As far as I know, the MiG-21 is equipped with a split drag chute cone in the bottom of the vertical tail, loaded with a PT-21UK brake chute (I read this… !): Then there is also to consider an auxiliary air intake in the flanks of the fuselage (like the Su-17M4 already in the game): Than there are the usual things, air brakes, canopy, mobile surfaces, gears, and I don't know more. Good luck!
