Being an old Navy guy I'm here to tell you that none of the ships have a proper wake. Navel ships generate quite a big wake when at speed launching aircraft don't care what the size of the ship. The wakes are big. I would totally like to see more realism around the wake.

I totally agree with Honez! I can easily see the wake of a ship while sitting in an airliner up at 35K feet! They need to be much longer, wider and brighter. Actually though, this is a thread for the DCS World 2.5 Wish List I believe. This isn't something that is going to get fixed with the super carrier module.

I just hope that the white areas actually 'flow' if you know what I mean (currently they're fixed rigid with the ships, looking very unnatural). The one in the screenshot looks like a fancier take on the wake currently implemented in DCS... Which yes definitely grateful, but leaves much to be desired, particularly when it comes to size, smaller vessels and fast moving vessels. The white should be way more dense and preferably 3D close to the ship.

 

Unfortunately in that screenshot, the wake behind that Arleigh Burke DDG is tiny, when in reality:

Wake is a Core issue not module issue.

Certainly is, but I think there's hope that the supercarrier module will encourage further development into the maritime environment.

Wakes

 

Wakes are proportional to ships speed, size, and very importantly sea state. Turn a carrier into the wind with 3 to 6 ft swells you will get a good break off the bow. Also, calm sea ship at 0 to 15 kts will start a wake around midships, increase speed the wake start farther forward.
