i have checked everywhere and can not find an answer to this? apologies if i missed it.

on the FPAS page, TCN always shows "TCN 10". is this suppose to be an identifier?

I thought that this gives you numbers to the currently selected TCN station. but no matter what TCN i select it always says "10". shouldnt this change to the selected TCN (ie, 74 for stennis)

thanks in advance

+1. Good question.

About carrier ops: "The younger pilots are still quite capable of holding their heads forward against the forces. The older ones have been doing this too long and know better; sore necks make for poor sleep.'

thanks for the responses.

i guess my question now is, do i have confidence that the estimate numbers under "TCN 10" actually relate to my selected TCN station?

Can someone bring light into the dark here?

I have not found any post or video where someone could explain this.

According to NATOPS, it should be the TACAN station you're tuned into...

2.3.1.1.6 Waypoint/TACAN Steering Area. If waypoint or TACAN steering is selected on the HSI

display (figure 2-7), the waypoint or TACAN station selected, the arrival time at current conditions,

and the fuel remaining at arrival is displayed on the FPAS display. The fuel remaining at arrival and

the number of miles (if greater than 99 miles, 99 miles is displayed) from the waypoint or TACAN

station to begin descent is displayed on the HSI display. If time to waypoint, fuel remaining, or

TACAN station is invalid, Xs are displayed. If fuel remaining is calculated to be less than 0 lb, 0 is

displayed. If TAS exceeds Mach 0.9 the fuel remaining is blanked.

BUG?

I tested it with 2.5.6. It doesn't matter which TCN channel you set. The FPAS page always shows TCN 10.

I suspect this is a bug.

Even after looking through the NATOPS I'm not quite sure what's going on here. It seems we need to distinguish between TACAN stations and channels.

It looks as if the stations work like memories (they can be set in the HSI - DATA - TCN page), and there are ten of them.

I think it's this station number that shows up in the FPAS, and they're just using 10 (0 in the TCN page?) for now as the full functionality hasn't been implemented yet.

What I don't know is if by selecting the station in the TCN page, that is the one that is used for navigation by all systems?

24.4.3 TACAN Programming. To enter TACAN station data, select the DATA option on the HSI

display. Then select the TCN option on the DATA sublevel display to bring up the TACAN data

sublevel display. This display shows the current TACAN station data: lat/long position, elevation and

magnetic variation. To enter the TACAN station number, select the up/down arrow to select the

desired TACAN station number. Next, select the UFC option to initialize the UFC for TACAN station

data entry. On the UFC select: the X or Y pushbutton to select the TACAN channel, the POSN

pushbutton to enter lat/long data, the ELEV pushbutton to enter elevation data, and the MVAR

pushbutton to enter magnetic variation. TACAN data is entered through the UFC keypad for up to 10

TACAN stations. See figure 24-18.

Are you talking about the bottom right of the FPAS page, where it displays 0 with an up and down arrow on either side of it? If so, this is where you can change your "home plate" from INIT position, to a forward operating base...... Example, take off from the Stennis 140 nm southwest of Kobuleti, program a waypoint for Sukuhmi. Change home plate from 0 to 1, via the up arrow (bottom row of OSB pushbuttons, far right) on the FPAS page. This will eliminate the tendency for the master caution to illuminate and give the HOME FUEL message on the left DDI.

Haven't seen any TACAN reference on the FPAS page......

Cheers,
