mattag08 Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 Some Jester functions are multiple menus deep. If you choose the wrong menu you cannot go back and must start over from the beginning. The ability to back up one step would save a lot of time and effort. Biggest example is with radio inputs which can often be 5+ menus deep. RustBelt Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 If you have head tracking "look" in the middle and it backs you out.
Biggus Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 I second this request. If you have head tracking "look" in the middle and it backs you out. That certainly backs you out, but it takes you right back to where you began. He's asking for something to take you back a single level of the UI rather than needing to start all over. It'd be a nice QoL change.
IronMike Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 Not sure this is possible regarding the menu logic, for example you'd have to delete also one possible entry from that menu before backtracking in the radio entry example, etc... By that I mean, possible without too much coding that has to be done, which isn't within our capabilities anymore. It is one of those things that can sound easy to suggest (I would like it, too), but could be a pita to implement, where time is better spent elsewhere. I will ask. Mr. Big.Biggs Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Just make the center of the pie the back track. That way you don’t have to delete an existing slice. DERacing Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Agreed! Need a way to back out without having to close and reopen Jester. One other thing... On the initial startup screen, can the CANCEL STARTUP selection be moved? I go through that menu sometimes so fast and it grabs that on the initial opening of the Jester menu. Move it from 3:00 to 9:00 or 10-11 maybe. But it is prominent right on the body where I seem to look at most. RustBelt Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 I guessing how it works now is appending a "word" for each step to a buffer that then gets run in the last option selection. SO backing up would require a second buffer to tell the buffer what word to take back out of the buffer. Or something like a Comma Separated Value between each "word" which may not be how it's implemented, meaning a whole rewrite. As opposed to just clearing back out to a blank buffer.
