amalahama Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Have your guys seen that? A Knight of the Sky Video. In real time! It would be great if an whole pressure field aproximation is used in the future, instead a force-over-surface only. So we could feel the aerodynamic presence of other helos/airplanes, their turbulent wake, and other cool stuff. Regards!!
Flyby Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I guess force feedback guys will be in heaven. ;) Flyby The U.S. Congress is the best governing body that BIG money can buy.
Eagle Driver Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Operation Jetwash. You are assigned to this F-15C you see out the window. Your mission is to patrol the area between Columbia and the US border for drug runners. When you find one, either destroy them with a sonic boom or make them depart controlled flight with afterburner jetwash. If that failes, use the gun, but try not to set fire to the jungle, god only knows what those plants do. Guest unknow12 Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 i want that pressure field caused from exploding bomb to affect any nearby heli .

But computing the flow parameters(it's not only the pressure) continously in the entire area of interaction between the helicopter (especially coaxial) and the air would be too much demanding to CPU and RAM power. For my masters degree project I'm doing some CFD assessments of Ka-32 rotor in Fluent and can tell ya- the finner the mesh the better results but it takes aaaaaaaaaages to compute the entire volume even on a multiprocessor (32 CPUs) machine. Making the mesh more coarse speeds up the calculation pretty much so you have to make a compromise- what results would be satisfying to you and skip the solution of areas you're predict that the flow paramaters barely or don't change. Force_Feedback Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 I guess force feedback guys will be in heaven. ;) Flyby Guess I'll be making some mod for it then, some mod involving certain paraphernalia instead of machine guns. Maybe even a total conversion mod, and call it Highs in the Skies. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
Sundowner.pl Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Than throw it of on the physics card, or another computer in the network. Most people will have to upgrade their machines to play DCS anyway, leave the parts, connect in 1Tb LAN, and have a machine for processing such environmental events. Yes you are right, but you can subdivide them in two problems (linearity here ), a forces over surface calc problem (which we have now implemented in all flight simulators) and a wake problem. This can be calculated in a more coarse form, you don't need a lot of mesh resolution here. Maybe in the future.. Regards!!!
Witchking Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 lol! Adding this would mean DX 10 in a economical sense considering what World In Conflict has done. Smoke is a 3d entity that can be manipulated....it is SOFT and can be blown away. but its for DX 10 onl in that game. IU would be rather happier with better explosions, fire and effects. ;) WHISPR | Intel I7 5930K | Nvidia GTX980 4GB GDDR5 | 16GB DDR4 | Intel 730 series 512GB SSD | Thrustmaster WARTHOG | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR4 pro | |A-10C|BS2 |CA|P-51 MUSTANG|UH-1H HUEY|MI-8 MTV2 |FC3|F5E|M2000C|AJS-37|FW190|BF 109K|Mig21|A-10:SSC,EWC|L-39|NEVADA|
