Dannyvandelft Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 (edited) So I felt like taking the Tomcat out today, haven't flown her much after the 2.5.6 lighting update, she just doesn't look nearly as good as she did before and the VR performance is just awful now.... Anyway, I restarted the campaign a while ago and I loaded up the next mission. Starting cold, I go through the procedures (so I thought, keep this in mind) and got up in the air. I get to my CAP zone and start patrolling when all of a sudden I start seeing double! My HUD started to slightly separate. I had 2 of everything slightly overlapping. I'm thinking I overstressed the bird and the HUD is out of whack. So I continue on and around the edges I see color fading. "GODDAMMIT I need to clean my headset!" Or so I thought. So I take my headset off, wipe the lenses, everything back on, nope still there. So I keep flying, launch a few Phoenix's at a 4 ship, and the discoloration turns into grey and starts creeping towards the center of my view. "WTF" goes through my head as I get jumped by 2 Fishbeds... "What am I missing" as I'm trying to get SA in 1950's black and white... "Oxygen!" (Remember I talked about procedures earlier) I never set the oxygen switch! "Where was it! ....!" I look at all the panels, meanwhile Jester is calling out MiG positions and I'm jinking and turning while I'm trying to remember the damn oxygen switch location... "F#$k it!" I think to myself. "I'll get oxygen in here REAL quick!" And I blow the canopy off. I take the fight to the deck, and everything starts coming back. My vision, color, sharpness, back to 100% "Alright bastards, eat Sidewinder!" as I fire my last one at the first bandit I can get in my sights, luckily it hits, and it's just 1v1 now with MiG 2. Couple turns later, he's eating lead and on a one way trip back to Mother Earth. Then, a nice 80 or so mile trip back to the boat in my Tomcat Spyder at low altitude, I hit the #3 wire, Jester wishing Meg Ryan saw it, and I'm sitting smiling in my flight chair. Well Done Heatblur, Well F#$king Done! I loved that me forgetting to turn oxygen on actually made such a huge difference. Oh and P.S. please fix my baby. I hate seeing her like this in this crap patch. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk Edited April 11, 2020 by Dannyvandelft

It is also up to ED, not HB, to fix fps issues. Captain Spears Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Great story DannyV! p.s. there will always be someone to rain on your parade
bonesvf103 Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 I once turned the oxygen off while on deck and it started showing me hypoxia. That was odd, I thought. v6, boNes "Also, I would prefer a back seater over the extra gas any day. I would have 80 pounds of flesh to eat and a pair of glasses to start a fire." --F/A-18 Hornet pilot
Uxi Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I thought I was having graphical glitches when that happened, too. Turning on oxygen is not mentioned in the startup tutorial or in the Jester Assisted checklist... I've noticed Jester never turns on his oxygen, either. IronMike Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I guess with "visuals" you are referring to lighting changes, we did not change anything in textures or graphics and not in lighting yet either, because ED is currently tweaking its new lighting system. Hence you get the overglowing red and else too saturated colors. In this case we simply have to be patient, atm it does not make much sense to adjust against a yet unknown endresult. The hypoxia is indeed not unique to the Tomcat, but common to most modules. On a sidenote: you would not have had to eject the canopy, in fact, it would not have saved you, if you would not have dove down below 15k feet. This is otoh enough: flip the oxygen switch to on and dive low, recover and you can continue fighting as before. A great story indeed btw! A great story indeed btw!Yeah, I figured, but I couldn't remember where it was in the middle of a dogfight I understand where you're coming from with the lighting changes. No sense in doing it now so it needs to be redone in a couple months. I just hate seeing her like this. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
