Hammer_251 Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020  Ever since 2.56, I sometimes have to restart the application several times before I can even see the Main Screen. Lately I have been playing mostly WWII Spitfire stuff and I must say apart from the comms not working (never have), I can't choose some parking spots at all via the ME menu and planes that are parked in designated spots end up entirely somewhere else on the airfield. The game will even change the paintscheme on you! Yes this is the OPEN BETA version, YES I am fully aware of what that means... nevertheless at the very least we should be able to run the application once not 10 times even on Open Beta. It's never been this bad on Open Beta, never. That is why I have decided to say something. I know the modern jets get the limelight and all but I really think small fixes could be made. Just sayin"... Love the sim, Hammer
Rudel_chw Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 You always have the option of using dcs_updater to revert to a prior version, say 2.5.5 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Hammer_251 Posted April 14, 2020 Author Posted April 14, 2020 True Rudel, nice to get the new eye candy though. Thanx for the reply.
NeilWillis Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Sounds to me like you have a borked copy of DCS World. Time for a completely fresh install perhaps? I have not had a single issue of it hanging on loading. Remember to clear the saved games folder too when you do it. Or at least, back it up, so you can try a completely virgin version and then re-add stuff later.

I would suggest removing any unofficial mods and run a cleanup and repair to ensure you dont have some other issues going on. if you still have problems attach your dcs log so we can look for clues. thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Hammer_251 Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 (edited) Well I downloaded a fresh install, everything seems fine however sometimes when I want to PREPARE a flight via the Mission Editor, instead of landing in my Spitfire, I get the f10 screen? Is this a recent development? Or did I goof? Edited April 24, 2020 by Hammer_251 Grammar

Next time try pressing F2… During a multi-player mission, and shortly after catapulting my Hornet, I examined the F10 map to orient myself but was unable to return to the cockpit. I desperately mashed F2 looking for my remains only to find my craft fully functional and steering into the sunset. Had I just been murdered by a stealthy wing-suited AI? a digital James Bond perhaps? I condemned my Guinness and restarted. Several days later I heard an eerily similar distress call from a recently displaced helicopter pilot. Hilarity ensued. I've noticed in 2.5.6 it sometimes likes to flip to one of AI settings for some reason. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
