obious Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Just wondering if the SC will have any wire physics at all (thinking rag doll-esk), such as when an aircrafts hook catches a wire, general play and slop will be observed rather than just a straight line being drawn from where the cable enters the ship to the tail hook of the aircraft? Golo Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 There are more pressing matters to resolve or features to add than wire curling that would only boost immersion by 0,021%, imho.

What part of anything I said makes you think I was asking for this right now? Also, I'd love to know how you quantified the inclusion of arrestor wire physics as adding 0.021% to someone's perception of immersion. MonnieRock Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Obious, I for one would think it would look great being in the LSO/Air Boss position seeing something like you describe. As well as when the cable retracts back into position for the next aircraft. Uxi Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 (edited) Hoping broken wires are possible. Let's see who's ready to eject and/or if it's possible to bolter. Oldfox Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 (edited) Personally I would doubt it for performance reasons. Rope physics is not the hardest cpu hit you can have on earth. It is actually amonst the simplest stuff you can implement when coding a physic engine (I did it when I was young and strong :) ), and not that CPU demanding. That said multiplayer wise, the headache begins :) Wanna see a deck crew beheaded? https://www.falstad.com/loadedstring/ :p Edited May 20, 2020 by Oldfox
