panton41 Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 (edited) I'm in the process of upgrading my flight sim controllers and I've run into a problem with the rudder pedals. I currently have a set of Thrustmaster T-Flight Pedals and they're just a hot mess of cheap plastic that are so small my feet practically touch while I'm using them. I was looking at the Logitech G Rudder Pedals, but apparently no one wants to sell them to me. (Everyone's out of stock or taking months to ship.) So doing some more digging I discovered that the MFG Crosswind are (at a stretch) within my price range (US$300 maximum) and I've seen nothing but glowing reviews. I'm most likely going to get them, but I'd love to hear from people on this board before I put down the money. I can tell you that I can't justify the price on the Thrustmaster TPR and reviews tend to bear that out. The VPC ACES-II Pedals are out of my price range as well, but close enough I might consider them. BuzzU Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 For all the pedals you mention. The Crosswind pedals are a good choice and are mine too. Buzz
dburne Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Have been using my Crosswinds for a number of years now, absolutely love them! Never a moments trouble and just as smooth and precise as the day I go them. zcaa0g Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Another vote for the Crosswinds. Lots of adjustability and zero problems since the product's debut a number of years ago now.
HC_Official Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 +1 for MFG's best pedals I have bought No more pre-orders Click here for tutorials for using Virpil Hardware and Software Click here for Virpil Flight equipment dimensions and pictures. .
Foul Ole Ron Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Another +1 for Crosswinds. Got them a few months ago as an upgrade to Saitek combat rudder pedals. Huge upgrade as it turned out. The only thing I would recommend is if you're not securing them to something with screws get some velcro strips so they stick to the floor as it's way too easy for them to slide around otherwise.
SVgamer72 Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 I used CH Pro Pedals (gameport and then USB for 15+ years). I eventually got a set of TM RCS (upgraded with a digital sensor), and then VKB MkIV. After discovering that I can't live without toe brakes, I got Crosswinds. The MFG Crosswinds are amazing. I have never seen a negative review.

Yep I use Velcro for that and it works great. panton41 Posted April 23, 2020 Author Posted April 23, 2020 Looks like my mind is made up, I just needed enough people to help me justify the price. I actually don't play DCS World that often and it's partly because my current controllers are such crap that it's simply not fun trying to operate a complex aircraft and fight your own funky controllers in the process. Quantum Peep Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 Used the MFGs for years and they are excellent. However, due to health issues with my muscles, I found them tiring to use. I switched to the TPR and I don’t regret it. They are far less fatiguing, and more natural and more precise to use. A lot better for helicopters too. They are pricy though. Snake122 Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 There's no mods out there to make Crosswinds what Virpil has termed post Saitek's "combat" pedals style a.k.a. nearly 100% of real modern Western rudder pedals? I really don't think I can go back to heels on the pedal after 20+ years of real flying and sims. I got pics of my ugly pedals I homemade in the mid-2000s back when heels on the floor pedals were almost non-existent. I know the TPRs are stupid at that price but they seem exactly what I want pedal style. Only ACE-2s are close a second in "combat style" but I doubt they'll be in stock when I get around to buying new pedals to replace my Saitek Combat pedals in hopefully May.
