Thallios Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 When I drop laser guided bombs from the F-18 like GBU-12/10 using my TPOD, the bomb starts to track the laser and everything seems normal. However in the last seconds of the drop shortly before impact the bomb seems to lose track and misses the target by a few meters resulting in no dmg to the target. This happens in point and area track. My wingman and I observed this behaviour on at least 2 servers and 2 completely different clients. We tried several times to make sure that the impact point was not lost. We even tried manual correction in area mode; no effet.
Darcwaynard Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 Is the laser being fired properly? Laser armed, TRIG boxed, TGP mfd showing LTD/R? Thallios Posted May 3, 2020 Author Posted May 3, 2020 Yes Laser is armed, TRIG boxed and LTD/R is shown. Tested multiple times with GBU-12 and GBU-10, also with buddy lasing and using JTAC laser. Every time same result. After drop bomb starts to track but then misses the target even when using the JTAC laser.

Thallios Posted May 3, 2020 Author Posted May 3, 2020 (edited) Yes bomb was in range. Bomb was dropped with Auto mode. Balistic curve before laser lock in the initial phase showed that the bomb would have overshooted the target as usual, then laser lock kicks in and bomb dives towards target but then still misses in the last 2 seconds. And this is not my fist time dropping laser guided bombs from the F18. The last 2 months several hundred bombs dropped from an F-18 hit the target with pinpoint accuracy, same procedure as always. Darcwaynard Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 I just shacked two tanks with GBU-12 self lase no problem. If you post a track of the issue maybe someone can check it out for you? Tholozor Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 Did you verify the LGB laser code matched your TGP laser code? REAPER 51 | Tholozor VFA-136 (c.2007): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305981/ Arleigh Burke Destroyer Pack (2020): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313752/
toutenglisse Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 It just needs a track showing the issue because it's a rare one. Without, nothing can help. FWIW (I have no track) it happened once to me with the Hornet maybe 1 week or 2 ago but I didn't saved the long track (I should have because it's not repoducible). Same as you LGB lost track (I watched departure with F6 - tracking laser, then in cockpit view waited on tgp the impact that didn't happened, and saw impact far from target, my altitude/range and attitude TGP/target were ok, next bomb was ok). Same also happened recently (once only also) with Vikr/Shkval and Ka50 - A Vikr started tracking laser then lost it and felt down. Was too early for burning laser possible and the next ones tracked OK. Different but in a way similar sometimes out of the blue (rare) a gps bomb completely miss by far. For all it requires a track file.
Thallios Posted May 5, 2020 Author Posted May 5, 2020 How can I upload the track file. It contains 17 Mb of Data limit is 5 Mb
toutenglisse Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 You can use 7zip, add file to archive, and select divide in volumes, entering less than 5,000,000 bytes and ok. Your will have 4 compressed file that you can post using 2 posts (3 max files per post).
Thallios Posted May 5, 2020 Author Posted May 5, 2020 (edited) Ok, I just watched the track file myself. Now the problem gets odd. The target point is completly off the target now. When I flew the mission the Point track was on target (tank). Now in the replay the Target Point is approx. 20 feet away from the target see first image. After bomb release the deviation gets even worse. I seem to have completly missed the Island although I dropped the bomb as usual. In the live game the bomb hit the ground maybe 20 feet away from the target. In the replay image of the overview map I seem to be miles away from the target. In single player / offline mode GBUs work just fine. Edited May 5, 2020 by Thallios
Thallios Posted May 5, 2020 Author Posted May 5, 2020 Ok now I have splitted the zip file For unpacking please rename the files as followed otherwise I was not able to upload the splitted file due to file extension restrictions GBU_12_Fail_001.zip ==> GBU_12_Fail.zip.001 GBU_12_Fail_002.zip ==> GBU_12_Fail.zip.002GBU_12_Fail_001.zipGBU_12_Fail_002.zip
Darcwaynard Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 The thing with tracks is they dont always replay properly.
