It looks like there's good news on the horizon! See Chizh's reply on implementing the correct APG-63 ranges:

So is this in right now since that post is from August?

Nope, not in the current patch.

Tempering my hope for this 20 year old problem...hopefully they increase detection power to slightly optimistic values but there is always that chance it'll go up 1% and we'll have to wait until 2042 to get more

just to maintain the proper level of frustration around here with another outside source of research...proof so to speak that not only the Su-27 and F-15 have identical radars in game as mentioned previously but also that the F-16 outperforms them both (lol). IDK if the F-15 should be "literally tomcat level" but certainly it should be in that ballpark

Yeah yeah we know. The APG-68v5 has since been adjusted.

By the way, your chart is outdated and a new one is available. The F-15 radar outperformes the F-16 now

I would love to see that re-done with just new values for F/A-18 and F-16

No comments on the JF radar range.... weird...

-------

All the people keep asking for capabilities to be modelled.... I want the limitations to be modelled.... limitations make for realistic simulation.

Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a bit you realize the pig likes it.

Lol, well the JF ranges are kind of a meme. At best they should be about what the 68v5 is.

Also the 68v5 shouldn't have the 77mi range, except in one mode which isn't actually modeled in our Viper. Its somehow interleaved with the regular modes which I think is wrong.

the chart has the new and old f-16. as some smart ass responded in this thread a few comments ago, the apg-68 has been adjusted

Sorry, now 45... its not the range thats the issue its the fact its a hprf waveform which shouldn't be interleaved and currently is, its its own radar page which we don't currently have in game AFAIK.

Because that is what the publicly available data says it should be.

What public data?  MPRF should be 40% of HPRF range.  It's just physics.

Yes that part is wrong. There is scant information available around for the ranges of these radars, but whats available for the JF-17 is  pretty much identical to what they have in game, ignoring whatever PRF does it right now.

does the jeff/klj-7 comes with a rotating radar or radar mount? - JF-17 Thunder - ED Forums

Are you saying that the MPRF simulation aspect isn't there?

Well, Quaggles is saying it, anyway. "MPRF has become identical to HPRF meaning it's lost some low closure rate capability and ILV detection range has been boosted"

I didn't see anything on the patch notes for 2.7.5.10869 and I don't have the Geoffrey but I believe the source

Oh lol...

Never mind that 105km number is probably the most optimistic range in VS most likely.

I don't think so the 105km range on a 5m^2 target would put it in a similar class to the AN/APG-68V9.

If its only in VS under best circumstances it would.
