This is the one i had in mind :) Imagine how would it feel in chair like this with wide high-res VR gogles. Only problem to switch in a pit (using some kind of glove or something like that?).

Hey, Do you have 20000 $ in your pocket?? I'm waiting for winning the lottery, probably then I will go forward with a thing like that!!:D

Regards!!

IMHO a lot of this shouldn't be so strictly simulated as it's impossible to "feel" the forces acting upon the aircraft as you do in real life...

Even with Tripple Head to go's you just can't get enough peripheral vision to catch those tiny movements that you instinctively pick up and compensate for in real life, or just feel in your gut, which would make the flight sim too hard.

Present combat simulators (including upcoming DCS BS) are FAR from reaching the limit of inability of letting player to feel forces present during real life flight.

Simulating the air mass movement is one example. Simulating human eye abilities and limits is another one. And these are not the only issues...

Weta is making a good point. One cannot say it's impossible to calculate something realtime unless the model philosophy is known. Airflow can be modelled using 1 cubic meter cubes if it's suitable for the project. It all depends what level of real world process simplification will be made.

I dare to say that major part of engineering are "tricks". You try to simplify real phenomenon as much as you can without sacrificing the end results of calculation - this is the essence of medelling.

So... Leave the CPU cost estimation to ED specialists while pressing them hard to include features we discuss ;)

Really, Like what are the big ones? would they be something that we might miss a lot? I just got the feelly that we were getting to the point in BS where it would almost be impossible to ever make a flight model and 3d model look any more realistic. (As in detail correctness) Without adding natural effects such as better wind and stuff...

Hmmn.

ED should offer a reward if you can find something they haven't modelled ;)

The Ka50 in Black Shark even has a working windscreen wiper, for god's sake . . .

Oh - just for the record, "air-to-air missiles on the Ka50", the R-27EA, and all other "but Janes says it has it!" systems would be exempt from this proposed reward system unless verifiable company or military documents are produced to support the allegation :P

You missed my point. I was telling CountryFreak about missing features which aren't conected with Ka50 directly and what you can read in sticky thread about 1.3 patch such as weather, crimean peninsula, enviroment exacly. I think You started thread about missing things in helicopter. So let's get concentrate on the topic.

Now when AFM is reality, atmospheric "detail" is a BIG one. It was one of the bigest differences I've experienced flying a real aircraft and I am pretty sure everyone will confirm this based on their own experiences. Leave the inner ear for now - it's another story.

We have AFM like from dreams - great! But why settle do the lowest common denominator? Maybe it is not right to call AFM "lowest denominator" but you get the idea. AFM and highly detailed 3D world is becoming a standard. I can bet the upcoming simulators will have FM similar to ED's AFM. Knight's of the Sky, Fighter Ops, Battle of Britain 2, Maddox new piece...

And BTW - DCS 3D models are only high poly now. It has not very much to do with photorealism. The lighting/colors are the key. Low poly F-15 can look like real (but wrecked and "edgy") F-15 in proper 3D engine while 1 milion poly F-15 will still look like "artificial" in poor 3D engine like the old LO's engine is today. Not to mention the Falcon 4 Allied Force 3D engine.

It was always suprising me how many years people say "Wow! This sim looks like real!". I think it began in mid 90's ;) To sit and make a cool comparison render vs photo was and still is hard appearently, because developers (generaly) still put most efforts in making everything high poly instead of conduct a proper lighting study.

Consider these:

- why gameplay black-white videos are MUCH harder to distinguish from real videos?

- why 3D snowy enviroment looks less different from reality than other type of enviroments?

Do you still have to deal with riots started by similar "requests"? ;)

Well to disagree, I beleive that I am staying on topic, and my point is about the helicopter. What I am saying is that I find it really hard to beleive that you can make the chopper any better, that is unless you add gusting wind effects and such that would push around the craft.

I am getting the same feeling as britgliderpilot.

Actually I think that it would be really cool if they added some advanced pilot modeling, like fatigue, better effects and shakes for g's and explosions, but I guess saying this I am straying a little off topic!

Pff! We have a working *Shkval* wiper, let alone the windscreen... :)

Ok, the windscreen anti-frost hot air system.
Not sure about the windscreen, but engine de-icing definitely works.

The only Ka-50 item potentially missing or modeled "lightly" that I can think of is the IFF system. Classified.

The more I think about it, the more I look forward to more realistic and immersive environments. Specifically, much more realistic terrain and objects on the ground (trees, towers, power lines, and structures...all collideable, obviously). Also, more weather would be nice. Not necessarily going so far as fluid dynamics with wind, but just more variety, such as snow, rain, ice, dust, haze, fog, cloud layers (I'm sure much of this is already in the game, but I don't know to what extent). Finally, better AI for ground units, possibly going as far as giving AI to each individual on the battlefield (i.e. individual soldiers, and even individual vehicle crew (driver, commander, gunner, etc.).

Hi all there,

I don't remember to have seen something about the possibility of the amphibius means to cross or move itself into the water and arrive from a part to the terrain to another. (i mean the LAV-25, LVTP-7 and BRDM-2, etc, etc)

And still more important the possibility to use the "Merge" command into multiplayer with the "Static Object that remain destroyed," saving for example a dynamics campaign into multiplayer.

Someone knows a way to save destroyed objects in one mission already played and to leave again with those destroyed for the successive one?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure destroyed objects are carried forward in the LO campaigns. It's just that often another one of the same thing is then spawned on top of the destroyed one, (a slight technical hitch) so it doesn't seem destroyed...

Cheers.

And just to clarify, these must be modeled because we will be able to see a significant change in visibility when it is precipitating, correct?

And also, what is the IFF system?

A question, the environmental system is operative?? The glass can be frozen??

Regards!!

Engines and (probably) rotor blades defrost system is operational. I doubt that there's any kind of frost visualisation. Previously mentioned features are only computational/procedural. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hey,

Would be nice to be able to climb out of the Kamov and take windy walk around it with a can of beer...

Any plans for two seater? Have a mate who "can't" fly, but would love to be a gunner, navigator, pilots mate... :)
