“IF” I was base commander at Nalchik, I would send a crew out to the end of the runway to chop down those bloody trees!

LOL! For years they give me grief on the landings. Especially in a Mig 21 due to the speed and low approach.

As you can tell, I had a mission ending event this morning and had to vent. LOL

Please note, this is note a complaint, just sharing. Love this game!

For me it's a little bit the other way around, really. I don't know why, but Nalchik is an airport I don't use in missions much and don't visit a lot at all either, so every time I end up going there, I realise (yet again... perhaps I have Alzheimer's) that it's quite pretty. Despite the very trees I know you mean.

Is Nalchik actually an airbase in real life? I always thought it was mostly a civilian airport. Not sure how much of an issue that steep approach is for your usual Aeroflot Tupolev.

I'm convinced every single GA runway in FSX has some sort of obstacle right on centerline, right at the airport boundary. It's incredibly annoying (read: challenging and interesting). They're all short field w/obstacle takeoffs and landings!

Try the Khasab 01 approach, you'll ask for terraforming!

Try taking off reciprocal to that... reminds me of another sim of the last decade where you could be taking off with a fully-laden bomb truck like a 105 with literally no thrust at all even with the can lit facing a hill slope just past the runway threshold somewhere in the Nam. You'd literally have to turn the thing at max. AoA directly after liftoff in order not to kiss that hill with your bombs and airframe...

Gudauta approach from the north, who gave permission to build those buildings in the closeup to the threshold?
