[REPORTED]Left hand salute

I haven't really payed attention to this but now that someone brought it up (https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4349404#post4349404): Saluting with the left hand.

 

How? Why?

 

Right hand is standard for... everyone? Then how come you guys made the disrespectful salute?

 

Or am I missing some Carrier ops detail?

The "salute" is not technically a salute, it's a hand signal. He's giving the hand signal on the appropriate side where the Shooter is for the sake of visibility.

A salute is a hand signal, be it on the carrier or not (with exception of the firing salute of course) .

 

Out of all the videos i've watched, They always give the correct salute, even if the shooter is left, and that is more than clearly visible for the ground crew.

 

Out of all the planes i've watched rolling in real life, not one single pilot gave a left handed salute to its ground crew.

 

Out of all the military personel i've seen, not a single person gave a left handed salute, not even for visibility purposes.

Gotcha, I read back through the NATOPS, and it does specify using the right hand. I mis-remembered the wording.

Fun fact, apparently it's legitimate to salute with the left hand (in the British army at least) if you are using your right hand to do something else.
