You need to turn on the Radar Altimeter itself on the gauge by turning the knob clockwise.

The gauge is on the right side, near the hook handle.

 

And you need to be below 5000ft AGL for the radar alt to display anything.

This. It will flash B (indicating it's using Barometric rather than Radar) when you are out of parameters and switch is set to Radar (i.e. over 5000 ft or if you are in a hard bank may show this because it shoots from underside of aircraft and in a bank it may be looking at the horizon rather than the ground)

You should also be able to double click the A/P push button to access the "soft" altitude bugs in addition to the "hard" bug on the dial. That doesn't appear to be simulated though.

That would be so much nicer than going to HSI > Data > BAlt/RAlt buttons > UFC!
