Gladman Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 (edited) I would suggest you will see better load times but not better performance from the SSD. That has been my experience. Beyond that, it may be time for an upgrade or you'll need to decrease your "clutter/Grass", "Chimney Smoke", "Terrain Textures", etc. I'd remove Heat Blur all together. A number of those items are great when you takeoff or land but do nothing for you at 20k ft. Of course thats if your a jet guy. Props I understand the desire for it, but there are still realities to your systems abilities. Leaderface Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 I think the Gladman tips will guide you in the right direction. Your system is not that bad to actually play with some degrade visuals at 1080p I´ll try with an SSD and wait a little to upgrade if all goes well. (If you can wait untill fall 2021 you will get a hell out of an improved DCS Pc). Your CPU is a little cramped on per core brute force, but if you are good with degrading some visuals I think it will be worth the wait with an SSD only. But be aware of the bloatware acumulated on your windows over the years too. A clean install on a new SSD will be a very great improvement in all your Pc tasks. (Not only in DCS) and will pay off for sure even in the case that you find your DCS don´t improve as much as you desire. It won´t be wasted money at all.
Svsmokey Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 There is a LOT of performance headroom available by decreasing some settings that shouldn't prove painful . You prolly won't see a difference with terrain textures low at 1080p , cockpit shadows low . Heat blur off , trees at 70% (every tree casts a shadow) . Try chimney smoke at 1 as well . And yes , a SSD and clean install will be very helpful , not least because pagefile and terrain loads . However , i would consider 32gb memory for mp as perhaps even more beneficial than an SSD . 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2
TheOtherSider Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Your gpu is bottle nicking your cpu. I would also turn down cockpit res of of every frame as that will chew up performance too.
