When I tested an AMPCD export I was surprised to see the map upside-down. I thought it was a bug as I've never noticed it before. I checked the map options and found that there is an option "N Up" and another "T Up". Question: Is this a new option or have I just never noticed that the map rotated?

Or has the default setting changed from "N Up" to "T Up"?

I have to admit that I use the AMPCD mostly in SA mode as I find the map overloaded with detail and therefore hard to read.

PS: When the map is in "T Up" mode and it rotates with your turns, all the text content of the map rotates as well. So you have the text content oblique, or vertical, or even upside-down which makes it hard to read. That's not how it works in a GPS, and in my opininion THAT IS A BUG!

N up, T up and DCTR have always been there. The default is always T up, as it should be.

AFAIK this map is pre loaded (so think of it like a texture of a map loaded into the jet before/ during ops or deployments). When you hold an actual map and then rotate it, the text doesn't rotate in the opposite direction to keep it easy to read - so that's how it should be.

On a modern aircraft I would expect something better than a scanned map. Every cheap GPS does better. But if that's all we get I will just not use the map. It's too cluttered anyway.

By that logic there should be no electric starter on cars...

Yeah, but it's a simple moving map display, don't forget the avionics in the Hornet (including the moving map) is from the 1980s if I'm not mistaken.

The TAMMAC is afaik just a digital scan of a sectional. We should have CHRT/CIB/DTED to provide various images for the TAMMAC, but thats a bug for another day.

Another fun bug is that T up in DCS isnt actually putting the track up, its instead putting the heading up. It should be such that the wind corrected track indicator is the up most on the HSI.

There's no logic here. That's just how it was made.

I was referring to your paper map allusion .
