CobaltUK Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 For the past year I have run SteamVR SS at 150% and in game PD at 1.0 which seemed to be most popular. Today i decided to try letting the game SW sort out its own graphics and put SteamVR SS to 52% (which is as close as i can select to native resolution) and set PD 2.0 I find the cockpit easier to read. Windows 7/10 64bit, Intel i7-4770K 3.9GHZ, 32 GB Ram, Gforce GTX 1080Ti, 11GB GDDR5 Valve Index. Force IPD 63 (for the F-16)
Mr. Big.Biggs Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 How did that effect FPS? Thanks I9 (5Ghz turbo)2080ti 64Gb 3200 ram. 3 drives. A sata 2tb storage and 2 M.2 drives. 1 is 1tb, 1 is 500gb. Valve Index, Virpil t50 cm2 stick, t50 base and v3 throttle w mini stick. MFG crosswind pedals.
VitS Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 These settings are multiplicative. Also PD is per eye, and SteamVR SS is for total resolution. So you were running at 150% native resolution. Now you are running at 400% * 52% = 208% of native resolution. So copit it easier to read obviously. But you you are also getting lower fps.
Supmua Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Of course it would be easier to read as with your new setting the rendered pixels = 9,584,640 instead of 6,912,000 pixels using the old setting. However, your calcs are correct. A PD of 2 gives 2*2, i.e. 400%, the number of pixels which would be the SteamVR value. Similarly, a SteamVR setting of 200% is equivalent to a PD of approx 1.4. SteamVR auto adjusts the % value depending on VR device and system spec. In OP's case, he stated 52% is closest to his native resolution. 54% in my case. So he was running about 3x his native resolution. Now he's running at about 4x native resolution. Either way, he's running higher resolution than before.
