AKULA_OPTIMUS Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Pretty much what the tittle says. Transparent water looks very nice, but the bottom of rivers and lakes are awful.

AKULA_OPTIMUS Posted August 20, 2020 Author Posted August 20, 2020 We are looking at improving rivers in DCS overall in the future, but currently not much can be done. I got it, but dont forget about the floating bridge in that location:lookaround:
Spectre_USA Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 It's like a silty surface 10 feet below the water level. In the first mission I threw together I sunk a ship on the Sea of Galilee, and did an F9 view to watch it sink. It slowly slipped down and then passed the silt below the surface. Odd... ED Team NineLine Posted August 20, 2020 ED Team Posted August 20, 2020 Yeah thats a global issue, not a Syria one. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
Hawkeye_UK Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Update required as its currently a bit of an eyesore - is this an ED issue or Urga. Surely reducing transparency on water will resolve to some extent? Again is this an ED fix or Urga? We need to get this resolved its a total immersion killer and ruins the Syria map. This is not an issue on PG, Caucasus, Channel, Normandy - so what is different here? Lakes and inland seas need to be blue - and along the sea coastlines, not this brown colour. Its pretty shocking given all the hard work you put into the maps that this texture has remained. 1 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DCS & BMS F4E | F14B | AV-8B | F15E | F18C | F16C | F5E | F86 | A10C | JF17 | Viggen |M2000 | F1 | L-39 | C101 | Mig15 | Mig21 | Mig29 | SU27 | SU33 | F15C | AH64 | MI8 | Mi24 | Huey | KA50 | Gazelle | CH47 | OH58D | P47 | P51 | BF109 | FW190A/D | Spitfire | Mossie | CA | Persian Gulf | Nevada | Normandy | Channel | Syria | South Atlantic | Sinai | Kola | Afgan | Iraq Liquid Cooled ROG 690 13700K @ 5.9Ghz | RTX3090 FTW Ultra | 64GB DDR4 3600 MHz | 2x2TB SSD m2 Samsung 980/990 | Pimax Crystal/Reverb G2 | MFG Crosswinds | Virpil T50/CM3 | Winwing & Cougar MFD's | Buddyfox UFC | Winwing TOP & CP | Jetseat
Aarnoman Posted May 13, 2021 Posted May 13, 2021 Agreed. The water is a significant detractor from this great map.

No issue with the water like in Syria. Also, as shown with the pictures in the Mariana map, the coastline/water technology has gotten a significant update in the TDK (terrain development kit). These new features are also available to third parties according to BN, so it is up to Ugra to start utilising these to fix the issues with water in the Syria map.
Aarnoman Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 (edited) Video illustration. Notably, this does not occur on Caucasus (or other maps), as can be seen in this screenshot of the river in Batumi: Edited May 22, 2021 by Aarnoman

Aarnoman Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 While some improvements could still be made to some shallow river areas (particularly Euphrates near Raqqa), overall this bug has been fixed in the latest release of DCS (2.7.2). I believe this thread can be marked as 'resolved' now.
