LooseSeal Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Sorry if this has come up before or if it's a stupid question! Already searched the forum for how to do this and followed instructions others had laid out, but I've come up against a wall.. Rather than downloading the entire thing again (I live rurally, so it god knows how long it could take...) I copied my Steam DCS folder into the newly created folder for the standalone. I changed the Config Retail file to say ED rather than STEAM. I then ran the Repair action from the quickstart menu. It seemed it had worked, but when I tried to start it said "Authorization failed" and none of my modules showed up in the game. And yet.. in the module manager it says they're all installed!? So.. I deleted all my aircraft/terrain etc from the Mods folder, ran a repair and went back to check - module manager prompted me to install my modules (for some reason only the aircraft/terrain and not the campaigns). So I did that, restarted and.... nope. Modules still greyed out. Really not sure what I've done wrong... anyone had similar issues and can help!? Really want to use the Standalone so that ED gets my money in future. - i7-7700k - 32GB DDR4 2400Mhz - GTX 1080 8GB - Installed on SSD - TM Warthog DCS Modules - A-10C; M-2000C; AV8B; F/A-18C; Ka-50; FC-3; UH-1H; F-5E; Mi-8; F-14; Persian Gulf; NTTR
Flappie Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 (edited) Hi. I think you have to do the same thing for CoreMods folders, but that will ruin your plan to avoid redownloading the whole game... See here: @Flappie, you must have poked my only brain cell....sorted! Removed all Aircraft from the coremods folder then forced a repair. Had tried this before but only removed individual aircraft which didn't work! Thnx again and stay safe. But if I were you, I would rather patiently redownload the whole game using the standalone updater. Because if you stumble on a bug in 7 days or so, you'll always have a doubt about your game files. Just my 50 cents. Edited August 20, 2020 by Flappie ---
LooseSeal Posted August 20, 2020 Author Posted August 20, 2020 Yeah, it's getting close to simply having to re-download it all again. I've tried many things to get it to work but no joy. I'm going to try one last method as advised to me by moderator Nirvi on here, which involves the updater copying files from the Steam install automatically. If it works then I'll report back here in case anyone else has the same issues. Thanks for the help though, Flappie, much appreciated! - i7-7700k - 32GB DDR4 2400Mhz - GTX 1080 8GB - Installed on SSD - TM Warthog DCS Modules - A-10C; M-2000C; AV8B; F/A-18C; Ka-50; FC-3; UH-1H; F-5E; Mi-8; F-14; Persian Gulf; NTTR
shagrat Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 (edited) You did register your steam license keys to your ED account/Login on the http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com ? That is required for the Standalone to authorize the modules.
