I've got another request. The team would also appreciate any detailed drawings, schematics, cutouts, etc., that could be helpful in designing 3D models of Hawk and Patriot systems components.

The request for unit placement and composition info still stands.

Thanks to all for the efforts so far.

Is HAWK still in service somewhere?

For someone with Google Earth installed on their computer, it would probably be illustrative to study the numerous SAM sites already identified:

Redeployment

Shoot, I was going to suggest that one. :(

Anyway, I'd like to remind everyone that you're not likely to encounter mobile SAM units, such as HAWK or Patriot, in their permanent peacetime facilities. Once a conflict starts, they will move to pre-determined locations in the surrounding area and likely switch between multiple locations on a near-daily basis. Systems with multiple fire units will not move all units at the same time, since one or more units are needed at operational status to provide cover during the redeployment.

Afterthought:

Redeployment to alternate sites also means that the placement of radars, command posts and launchers become more fluid, although they will still maintain the same basic structure - radars and launchers usually fan out to opposite sides of the command posts, with any specialized target tracking radars closest to the launcher clusters.

Newport Aeronautical offers US Army manuals with descriptions of many NATO SAM systems - along with other hardware. These usually contain perspective drawings of the equipment, which might be useful in creating 3D models. As an example, they have technical manuals on the HAWK and IHAWK systems. Amazing thread! Essential! Your knowledge guys amaze me. Does ED need it for mission edition or making 3d models of SAM systems?

I guess for SAM AI. How a network is influenced, when one element goes missing, what about the redundancy of guiding systems and ability to burn through jammers or switch to secondary sensors, etc. A friend was working as driver for an AAA-element during his time with the German Army. They recorded a really nice video of the reloading procedure of a Gepard. Awesome.

I had the chance to sit in one of those

and fiddle around with the controls before I started my time on the radars of one of those:

This is not related to AI. This information is needed for two reasons - organization of ground unit templates and 3D models design.

The templates will allow you to place a preset collection of ground units onto the map. For example, instead of having to place individual launchers and radars for a SAM site, you could simply place the SAM site template. If you wish, you could then adjust the positions of the individual units as needed. However, the team is trying to produce templates that are as accurate as possible, so specific placement descriptions are needed.

I see. That would make it a lot easier for missionbuilders to fill bases and targets with "life". Great idea!

Kusch, nice info on Caucasus air defence sites...

Now I can make a detailed map template with RL SAM sites!

...but I can't pinpoint S-300 from 1537 AD RGT in Novorossiysk thru Google Earth, how 'bout some LAT/LONG?!
