stevie02sky.com Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 Even in fine bright weather my cockpit is very dark, even with my interior lighting on. Is this normal or should I tinker with my game settings. Thank you..
pimp Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 A screenshot would've been nice. Also, what's your Gamma set to? It may need to be increased. i9 14900k @5.6GHz NZXT Kraken |Asus ROG Strix Z790 A-Gaming | Samsung NVMe m.2 990 Pro 2TB | 64GB DDR5 6400MHz EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra | PiMAX CRYSTAL LIGHT | HOTAS Warthog | Saitek Flight Pedals
FoxTwo Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 Instrument lighting and floods have been broken since the 2.5.6 lighting change. Hopefully they'll get around to fixing them.
stevie02sky.com Posted September 7, 2020 Author Posted September 7, 2020 Thanks guys. My gamma was at 1.2. Bumped it up to 1.6. Seems a wee bit better.
BuzzU Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 Thanks guys. My gamma was at 1.2. Bumped it up to 1.6. Seems a wee bit better. Bump it up some more. 1.6 is still dark. 2.2 is default. Buzz
Etirion Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 2.2 looks too washed out for me, 1.8 is the sweet spot. But in the end this depends on your monitor (settings) and personal preference.
BuzzU Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 (edited) I agree 2.2 is washed out. I can make it look better with monitor settings and I think that works better than using a low gamma setting in DCS. As you said though. It's personal. I love the looks of a low gamma setting but it only works in the right lighting. Sun position, cloudy days, and of course night time have to be consdiered. Edited September 10, 2020 by BuzzU Buzz
Northstar98 Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 One thing I will say is that in general, internal lights in daylight seem markedly reduced, to the point where they are almost invisible, (which probably should be the case for panels in direct sunlight, but it also applies to panels that are in shadow. I miss the pre-2.5.6 internal lights that would fade in/out as shadows move across the cockpit... I don't know if more tweaking is to be done or whether it is currently more realistic. BuzzU Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 (edited) The panels are too dark and the HUD isn't dark enough. Viper needs work. Edited September 10, 2020 by BuzzU Buzz
