a link to those mig29 and su27 pics please :)

Pics were in some older threads (cca year ago) before LOFC and DCS forums merged but I can't find links ATM!

Perhaps if try a bit harder...

Информация не секретная. Модель в пределах требований ЕД по колличеству полигонов.

Я принимаю модели, а вы мучаетесь, но у вас растет мастерство!!!:book:

Translated version: This information is not a secret. The model's poly count is within ED's requirements.

How is that for an answer?

Information about the models poly count and an image of the mesh for poly distribution idea.

Was asked I think.

hey I'm just the translator lol

But from what I know, structure models such as bridges, factories, buildings...etc

The limits are:

up to 100-200 meters: 10,000 faces

1 kilometer - 1000 faces

over 1 kilometer - 100 faces or less.

So hopefully some of this info helps, don't know the details about vehicles or aircraft.

Hey yes I know I did figure that out over the years :).

The rule of thumb is to spread the polygons in their right places use them as little as possible in parts that do not have curved shape characteristics so for example if you have a simple tank 10 000 polys may do, if you are doing a complicated tank with all the sensors and whatever makes up the complicated shape of an object you may find that 20 000 polys is not enough (a truck with 4 wheels would have less polys than the same model of truck with 8, you get the idea) and to build a small ground unit with 100k would be way out of proportion for a sim (there is hell of a lot of shapes you can make with only 10 000 polys).

That’s 8828 triangles another 5-7000 triangles/faces for the rest of the bits and it’s good enough IMO (for it‘s role).

A little poly reduction on it’s wings and tail shading could be put right but that’s miniscule it‘s getting the correct shapes in places makes it more trickier.

Yeh there's always a room for a joke about my creation.:)

At least it doesn't look like an oil tanker.

I don't like to be a party pooper, but how much FPS is this going to eat? I'm experiencing some serious drops in FPS with Buks and such in their current form...

I'm selling MiG-21 activation key.

Also selling Suncom F-15E Talon HOTAS with MIDI connectors, several sets.

Well, to answer Renato's question I'll just write my intentions and plans for DCS:BS.

The rig I'm using ATM is a 4 YO platform, that's obsolete, my FPS are poor with all terrain and scenery improvements that I just can't live without. (Birdy's 1.3 scenery + Merzifon, LOReloaded summer textures and Rugg's other seasons, Tomcatz' hangars and weapon models are just the few). I use no AA and AF 'cause I can't, well my X800 supports it but it kills all remaining FPS especially during taxi, takeoff and landing rolls. If I add some AI on the AB I use, I can't controll my airplane at all. Reason being that is my bottleneck CPU that just can't handle it. You see, my AtiX800 is a card good enough for LOFC, replacing it with some newer gen AGP graphic cards would be a waste of money. I'd gain nothing, no FPS increase just because of my CPU and FSB freq! Same thing happened to Ironhand, who replaced his GPU with a newer one but had no FPS improvement!

So I don't even consider playing DCS on current rig but I'll give it a try just to see the requirements of the game compared to LOFC 1.12a.

Since we know DCS:BS brings an upgraded LOMAC engine (or can we say second upgrade of Flanker engine) my assupmtions are it's still gonna be a CPU dependant simulator just like LOFC is! So it doesn't support multicores, at least BS module!

Getting a good top notch SLI/CF friendly MoBo with "fast" FSB (1333+) as a basis for a new rig is a way to start, put some >3.0Ghz CPU on top (I prefer Duals over Quads anytime, just because of pricing and performance! No need of spending more money on a "slower" Quad since DCS:BS is a single core simulator.

(I'll provide pricing in Croatian Kuna's since Renato is a Croat):

Q9550-2.83GHz for a 2.199KN or a E8600-3.33Ghz for a 1.700KN!

I believe E8600 provides enough kick with it's two cores on 3.33GHz (one core to play DCS:BS and the other used for running supporting applications like TS, Fraps, Hamachi and game controller aplications if U use them). For instance, I run Foxy for my TM Cougar and Ati Tray Tools constantly during LOFC sessions!

After that there's this HD4870 for a 1.799KN. Powerful enough, isn't it?!!

Going for a 4870 X2 is not a brightest idea here because of microstutter possibility.

Check Kuky's thread on this:

This is just my 2 cents, I may be wrong but that's the way I see it!

Cheers!

Of course, I'll wait for a DCS:BS release before I invest any money in a new rig!

Sure dude :D

But I'm wandering if we are chasing a rabbit, and suddenly a bear pops out

My current rig is good for both a2a and a2g. But I've been building some large a2g mission with as much realistic SAM setup as possible. Although I expected drop in FPS, I've noted that 6 batteries of Buk eat much more FPS then equivalent number of Kubs or Hawks. I guess this is due to more complex vehicle model, hence my question...

I do admire work of modelers, but isn't it a bit of overdoing? Frankly speaking, I'm more interested into their damage model :)

There is an old thread here that talks about airport (support) vehicles and possibilities to make them tow damaged aircraft, to refuel and rearm... Now, those are the vehicles that need more visual and logical details then any other. They are the only one that I want to see up close and undamaged :D
