W-Natas Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 The game release is planned for November 2004 Any new Infos on a planned release date? This message was sponsored by "askingstupidquestions.com" in cooparation with "icantfly.de".
SimFan Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 Jan 15 If the website 'simw.com' is to be believed, the English boxed version will be available around jan 15 (2005!). But that date can of course also be 'old news'. LockON is IT ! AMD 3500+ - GF6800GT - 1GB RAM low tatency - MSI NEO2 PLatinum 20" BENQ S-IPS TFT 1600X1200 - 32 bit color
W-Natas Posted December 11, 2004 Author Posted December 11, 2004 I think the downloadable version could be sooner released. But the best way to release this Sim is to release it as Full Version to buy in every Store, so that Commnunity grows. Dates provided by merchants are more likely than not merely guesstimates, often based on either wishful or overly pessimistic thinking and rarely accurate.
britgliderpilot Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 I think the downloadable version could be sooner released. But the best way to release this Sim is to release it as Full Version to buy in every Store, so that Commnunity grows. There are a couple of problems with that: 1. Legal. Ubi own the rights to distribute Lomac in the Western World, and aren't interested. 2. Publisher/Distributor. There is no box or CD for Flaming Cliffs in the West. A publisher would have to make and burn them all. Nobody wants to. 3. The stores themselves choose what they want to stock. It's coming up to Christmas, shelf space is at a premium. Niche products don't sell well. Work it out. It would be great IF Lomac v1.1 would be released in stores everywhere, but it won't happen. SimW . . . . for the moment, ignore them. I'm pretty confident that if ED had a release candidate for Flaming Cliffs, we'd know by now. But until they do have one, nobody can put a timetable on release. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg

But until they do have one, nobody can put a timetable on release. The latest official comment seems to be from the developer Valery Blazhnov on the Russian part of this forum on the 9th of December. Here is the translation of his post via babel fish "The record of training- tracks is practically completed. This means that the reliz- candidate of version 1.1 already on the approach. Thus far everything works completely decently. If the final short stage of testing passes smoothly, then reliz will leave to gold in this year and it can prove to be in sale to the new year. If or in publishers any serious unforeseen circumstances arise, then release will move on January of the following year. In any event, we are interested to let out version 1.1 as soon as possible." Of course this was in response to a question about the boxed version so don`t know how it reflects on the download ver. Lobo
Seafury Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 If or in publishers any serious unforeseen circumstances arise, then release will move on January of the following year. So with unforeseen circumstances it should be out in Janurary. So I take it that they are very close to a release then.
Starlight Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 So with unforeseen circumstances it should be out in Janurary. So I take it that they are very close to a release then. I'm not so confident. Patch 1.02 has been many times very very close to the release but was later delayed due to last-minute bugs.
VMFA-Blaze Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Yes but there are a lot of differences in comparison from patch 1.01 to the addon 1.1..... First of all we were more well informed as to what build Ed was working on and we also knew when a new build was submitted for evaluation and testing..... Unforunately it appears that things have certainly changed with the exiting of Stormin'.... But don't get me wrong I feel the new Mods are doing a good job but this area is somewhat lacking for one reason or another....... ~S~ Blaze intel Cor i7-6700K ASUS ROG MAX VIII Extreme G.Skill TridentZ Series 32 GB Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SATA II ASUS GTX 1080/DIRECTX 12 Windows 10 PRO Thrustmaster Warthog Oculus Rift VR
BuzzU Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I keep hearing 1.1 has a good written manual. How about those in the west who download 1.1 get the manual sent to them? I can burn the download to a CD. Buzz
Dmut Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 But don't get me wrong I feel the new Mods are doing a good job but this area is somewhat lacking for one reason or another....... ~S~ BlazeI can't speak for all mods, but at least I and BIOLOG are not working in ED staff, and we don't have access to classified info like release date. I wish I could tell an exact FC release date, but I just don't know it. All we can do is to keep our interest to wonderful game and don't panic. Anyway, since today is a monday, and monday is a first day in the week in Russian calendar, I feel that ED is gonna to suprise us will a new piece of FC art. I very hope so. :) "There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: recklessness, which leads to destruction; cowardice, which leads to capture; a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble." Caretaker Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I too don't want to fuel release date discussions and estimations. Beta testers certainly have some more insight into the process, but in the end neither we, nor the developers can predict a definite date as to when the code is considered finished. That is just the nature of software development and hasn't changed since 1.02 either. So even if you got somewhat more info about the testing process, that wouldn't get you the release date any faster, let alone the final product ;)And I can also guarantee you that the current testing process isn't overly exciting and thus worth reporting about. DEChengst Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I'm not so confident. Patch 1.02 has been many times very very close to the release but was later delayed due to last-minute bugs. In general planned time until release +50% is a good guestimate. So expect a game that should be released in a year being released in a year and a half. That is just the nature of software development and hasn't changed since 1.02 either. It's not a good news this one, if the developers are still working hard on the game code, well the release seems not very close. Keep in mind that this is not a patch which can be quickly uploaded to some FTP servers and made available. This is a new game, which must be also packaged (for the Russian market) or put in some form to be downloaded on the Internet after having been bought on a secure server. It's much less trivial than a simple patch. Given the fact that there could be at least a week between the end of coding and the availability of the game, I don't think the game will be released very much before Christmas. And since few people actually work between Xmas and the New Year's Day, well I'm expecting Flaming Cliffs not to be out before January. Just IMHO.
Passed_Pawn Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 When will the leaves fall off the trees? When will the first snowfall come? We do not know exactly when these things will happen each year but we do know that they will happen. That is the important thing. "Flaming Cliffs" will happen. In the meantime, we can fully enjoy what we already have and savor the anticipation of things to come. This is really the only way live a contented life anyway, isn't it?
S77th-GOYA Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I just heard from one of the snowfall beta testers that there is a bug that is keeping the release date in limbo. It seems that at this point, all of the snowflakes are EXACTLY alike. I would guess it will snow in 2-3 weeks.
Passed_Pawn Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 Thank you, DarkStar. You have a good sense of humor, GOYA_551st. :D
