I would pay for a official access to all the betas. Would like to see how the things changing trough the next betas until the release. You can just start from the runway and fly without the manual. For me it`s fun to find out how the things work. So I would have no problem without having a manual for the beta.:)

Not that I wouldn't pay for demo, but I wouldn't buy the game from the company who is charging the demo. Strange thread... It's like go to the cinema and watch trailers for 2 hours, or as you have to pay TV license and watch adds on it...

Actually it's a very good idea if ED will suggest to people time limited BETA software testing. They've free paid workers already why not free paid dozens of testers ;)

I wanted to scream hell no but after thinking about it, I would say "maybe". It would depend on price, scope of what was in the demo and how far off the final product is. I like a good car racing sim and if I had a PS3 I would definitely buy GT 5 Prologue, which is effectively a demo .. but what a demo. 60 cars, 6 tracks (that can be reversed) and supports online play too. If the BS demo was something like that and the final version of BS was like a year away from now then Yeah I'd probably buy a demo.

'Ending' the LockOn series pissed me off so much that - right now - I wouldn't even pay for the full version either.

 

I know it's OT & re-hashing old arguments, but I find that such an odd attitude.

 

When ID software went from DOOM to QUAKE (I'm pretty sure they're not putting out patches for the original DOOM any more), or as each itteration or Need For Speed (or GTR etc) came out, did their communities berate and abandon them because they had 'Ended' the series ? No - players embraced the change & improvements it brought with it...

 

Simillarly - When any FPS / MMOLRPG / Racing SIM developer develops a new engine ( & moves on from the last ) the respective communities accept that technology moves on & opens the door for better things. Think of what the present technological complaints are about DCS.BS - (Shadows, lighting, lack of fully detailed player radar modelling, no A/G radar model, seeker issues, worries about frame rates etc) almost exclusively aspects that are limited by the capabilities of the present engine.

 

The LO Engine has reached (past) the end of it's development lifecycle, and for things to move on, it has to be left behind, but that's a good thing...

 

That said - people can keep playing the LO series till a DCS module that interests them comes out, but would you really rather that the community forced ED continue diverting a significant portion of their development resources into what is effectively obsolete technology, or would you rather they focused on bringing the next generation of SIMs to market ASAP ?

If they keep Starforce, man no way I would touch it with a ten foot pole. Lips are very tight about what will be the protection. From now on I will check every purchase to see if Starforce is involved, if so, no DEAL.

We need more post like this to hammer the point home to ED that Star Force is a big no-no. I don't care if you have never had problems with it because that is not the point. The point is there are better alternatives out there.

 

I love ED, and have been a fan from the gouraud shading days, but for the love of Shirley Manson, please, don't kill a killer sim like BS by using SF.

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

I’ll buy minimum two copies if they use Starforce, maybe three … If they don’t use Starforce, I can just get me a game over the net and that would eventually kill Eagle Dynamics titanic effort to keep such a unique product alive. BTW, I have 3 copies of FC.
