i confirm this bug. some parachutes fall sideways.

i have a video recording containing this issue that is 11 months old now, so its nothing new. ive never noticed it though.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X

GPU: AMD RX 580

Also seeing it on the last 2 stable builds (including current).

Parachutes seem to rotate in the horizontal plane instead of falling.

Do they pull the munitions around, or is it just a glitched animation?

"Subsonic is below Mach 1, supersonic is up to Mach 5. Above Mach 5 is hypersonic. And reentry from space, well, that's like Mach a lot."

No idea, I'm not a Bk90 specialist. One should play the same track on two different builds to know more. Do we know which version this bug has sprung from?

Oh @Flappie, what have you done 😄 That video is gold and definitely a piece of art. Love it!
Didn't laugh that much about a Viggen bug since canopy of doom.

Thanks! 😉

Glitched animation/physics (?)

As the BK-90 is a gliding munition and releases basically over the target, so you'll want the velocity they got from the dispenser to reduce to 0 so they'll drop vertically, over the target.

I don't know if my question was clear.  I was wondering if it's only a glitched animation or glitched physics.  For example, is the parachute drag force applied in the direction the parachute is shown, which would amount to a lateral force on the bomblets, or is it in the correct physical direction (opposite the velocity vector) despite where the parachute is shown.

Oh, my bad.

Lemme do a quick test and I'll have a look.

EDIT: Seems to be just an animation issue, the velocity of the bomblets is vertically downwards with no wind.

Spoiler

Just as a side note, it it just me or are the release cues for the BK-90 off? I only get the maximum range cue (horizontal line just touching the 2 small vertical lines).

According to the RC2 manual, their maximum range is somewhere around 10km, at the moment I'm getting maximum range cues at ~2-3km if that.

EDIT 2: I just launched from what the HUD release cues thought was out of envelope, but around the maximum range as stated in the manual (around 8-9km) - the BK-90s had no problems hitting the target and they still had a good amount of speed remaining (~700-800kph), releasing at mach > 0.9 @ 500m AGL, with the BK-90 set to glide at 100m AGL, no wind.

It seems the actual maximum range of the BK-90 is a fair bit further than what the release cues would have you believe.
