Using A10c II in original A10C campaigns and missions

Hi All

 

Tried searching for answers on this with no joy. I've seen a couple of youtube videos where the A10C II is being used in campaigns for the original A10C. However I cant find a way to do this? I've bought the upgrade but only have instant action options and would love to move over to the A10C II in these. As it is im still using the original module and have the shiny new one sat doing nothing. Any help appreciated.

You do it via the mission editor AFAIK - find the campaign missions, open up them up, find your aircraft and change it from A-10C to the A-10C II. Don't forget to adjust the radio presets, loadouts etc where applicable.

 

Might want to back-up the original just in case, and with some 3rd party campaigns (that are secured) you might not be able to do this.

Thanks Northstar much appreciated, I'll give it a go, but as you say i fear some of the campaigns may be a challenge. I'm sure i read in the blurb for the A10C ii it would be compatible. A shame as love flying it but feel its wasted currently with so few options mission wise and unlike buying a brand new plane many will have a good grasp of the A10 so will want to dive straight into missions and campaigns. May be time for me to start learning the mission editor properly!

I'm able to switch to the II in the mission editor but it won't let me save if I do. Some missions will let me fly it anyway without saving, some won't.

I have copied the A-10C I missions to a new folder "C:\Users\myname\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Missions\A-10C_2" and updated them to A-10C II there. And of course I created new load-outs, especially taking advantage of the new laser-guided rockets (APKWS) which are perfect for killing IFV's so I can save the precious Mavericks for MBT's and SAM's.In the extreme, the M282 APKWS can even kill MBT's (takes a volley of hits though).

There are a number of campaigns that now have been updated to A10C2. I am having a blast with Piercing Fury right now. That one is in DCS UserFiles. Re started Enemy within by the superb Baltic Dragon, my wishes answered in the latest update. Only problem is had so much fun using the A10 II in this campaign that I didnt make it bed until 3am!
