Isn't it unrealistic to be able to put sidewinders inside the weapons bay? The sidewinder has a heat seeker, and I'm getting tone even before the doors are opened, wouldn't it be impossible for the sidewinder to get a tone because the closed doors are blocking its heat seeking? I believe you are correct, I think Nightstorm should make it such that both AIM-9(M or X)s extend out of the weapons bay when trying to get a lock, as that is how it is in real life as far as I know. 1

Well, you can already select the various bay doors if you choose when using AIM-9M. Those controls are already in place by default. Left,Right,Center,All bays can be opened manually. When I'm testing out different values for mods, like say - RCS or any of the detection distance values in sensors.lua, There are times where the test would be successful once (where the new values are reflected as I expected). Thereafter, it seems like none of my changes are being picked up when ran. For reference, I set all detection distance values in sensor.lua to 0. Then I create a new mission in mission editor. Somehow I am still able to pick up another F-22 at 30 nm away.

Perhaps I didn't read closely enough or didn't look in the right places but here's what I found for anyone who stumbles upon this again: values defined in Sensors.lua - at least when I tested things, these values are used by AI but doesn't seem to have direct affect on how far away the radar can see when the plane the sensor is for is being flown by a human. max_detection_range - Through my own testing, this value specifically affects how far away the radar can see when the plane that the .lua file is defined for is being flown by a person.

CheekyNandos Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 Apologies if this has been covered. I've coped the files from this over the top of my existing F-22A folder. When I go to fly the plane now it shows the plane on the map and if I F2 it's there, but I am unable to fly it. What am I missing?

The Normal ATC Cruise mode did work tho. (When flaps down and gear down it seems to active cruise mode as it holds the airspeed, but it doesnt hold the AOA, and it doesnt show on the screens, when im just cruising and activating ATC Cruise it does show on the screens) Best regards - TCZ Virtual Pilot, Minecrafter. Nightstorm Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 (edited) There's not really much to the installation. You have to have the original F-22 mod installed and working. That requires the F-15C at a minimum or the Flaming Cliffs pack. Once you have that working, you overwrite the mod with whichever version you intend to use from the downloads on the first page. It all goes in the saved games folder. If you're having specific problems please provide more details on the symptoms so that someone can help. Note that the reason the base mod is required is because my add on IS NOT THE FULL MOD. Emphasis for clarity. It is not a repack and doesn't contain all of the files. Only those that have been added/changed. I just tested it yesterday on the new Sinai map, of course I haven't updated the map pages or clocks yet for that map, but it works fine otherwise with the map and the current Open Beta from 6/8/23. The ATC approach requires you to be in those parameters, less than 250 kts and if the flaps move it will deactivate it. It was working fine the last I checked and in fact will even land you on a runway with your gear up. Edited June 9, 2023 by Nightstorm 3

The coordinates were taken from the in-game map and probably don't match real-world GPS coordinates. That's likely because the in-game map isn't a sphere, sorry flat earthers. The min and max range just follow each other and I can't pick anything up. I can use my arrow keys to move to lock the target but it also changes the altitude range while doing that. I don't know exactly why it happens but I suspect it had to do with decrypting the the PMFD systems lua file to add additional pages to it. I was provided an unencrypted copy of the the MFD luas but never got a response when I asked about the PMFD. So, I did my best to replicate the existing functionality of the PMFD while also adding new pages to it. As with anything I've done with this, I welcome any idea or fixes that the community wants to help with. I'd be happy to credit and include them.

It seems to me that there is a compatibility problem between the F-22 weapon mod (the one that adds the various AIM-120 and AIM-9X types) and the mission editor (ME). It's really strange: if I install the "weapon mod F-22" I can't get terrestrial objects anymore in the missions I generate with the ME. For example, I add enemy tanks into the mission, I start the mission, but there are no more tanks!!! I have attached a mission where the problem occurs. My version is DCS 2.8.6.41066 Open Beta (the last available). If I run the repair, everything is fine again, but the mod has been removed. F-16 CAS train 03.miz

The screens are the new ones cos they're not the Grinnelli F15 radar/RWR screens but the new ones don't seem to be functioning .. no idea why Clearly the new screens are a huge step up , just got to get them working Edited June 11, 2023 by phoenix456

The file is the A2A_Missiles.lua and it's placed in the X:\DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\aircraft\AircraftWeaponPack folder. Make sure you removed the copy of it in your F22 folder as it's there by default. A long time ago I found that there couldn't be two copies of it. The other one is in your saved games folder. ..\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\aircraft\F-22A. Other than that, I don't have any idea. Make sure that you run the script for the missiles you want that are placed in the root folder. There is a readme file called AAM_Readme.txt that explains them. And also note, that in the Mission Editor, the AIM-120D will still be called an AIM-120B but the missile and textures will be different, and most importantly, the performance will be too once in the sim. 1

This is not a full mod and doesn't contain all of the files from the original. It replaces or adds files.

I opened up one of my missions and added a BTR-80 right in front of my parked aircraft and it spawned and started attacking everything. 1

There are actually 2 versions of Nightstorms mod in the single player download. And I managed to install both. As per the instructions to “ install over the Grinnelli mod” I deleted everything re-download Grinnelli and Nightstorm mods Grinnelli installed first then over wrote it with the newest Nightstorm mod and wha la! Updates are posted in this thread and generally due to other significant updates to DCS. Some new features are work in progress but no ETA. 2
