Teeps Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 On the latest open beta I'm having issues with the JTAC. I've tried ground and air JTACs, and I've tried this with the AV-8B, F-16, F/A-18 and A-10C II as the player aircraft. The JTAC responds to the first call, and gives me 9-line, but stops responding after that when I say I'm ready to copy remarks. The attached track shows it with the F/A-18, but the result is pretty much the same whatever airframe I use. JTAC issues.trk Win10 x64, 16 GB RAM, Ryzen 5 1600X @3.60 GHz, 500 GB SSD, GeForce 1080 Ti
FADEC Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Have almost the same issue, accept after respond with ready to copy I get ABORT, ABORT, ABORT, non stop, have to change freqs for it to go away
Teeps Posted December 28, 2020 Author Posted December 28, 2020 I've spent some more time trying to understand this. It seems the JTAC gets confused if there's more than one enemy group in its area. In the attached track I have two JTACs each with only one enemy group to think about and it works mostly ok. JTAC issues 2.trk Win10 x64, 16 GB RAM, Ryzen 5 1600X @3.60 GHz, 500 GB SSD, GeForce 1080 Ti
Teeps Posted December 28, 2020 Author Posted December 28, 2020 Actually, I take that back, I added more units around each JTAC and it was fine still, so there must have been something amiss in the original setup, but I haven't done anything different as far as I can tell. JTAC OK.trk Win10 x64, 16 GB RAM, Ryzen 5 1600X @3.60 GHz, 500 GB SSD, GeForce 1080 Ti
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted December 28, 2020 ED Team Posted December 28, 2020 JTAC needs to have line of sight to the targets so be very careful about where JTAC is placed. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Teeps Posted December 28, 2020 Author Posted December 28, 2020 It definitely has line of sight in these cases. The issue is not that it doesn't work at all, but that it doesn't progress through the communications properly. So sometimes it will respond to the initial check in, give the nine line, but when I say ready to copy remarks it will never respond. It also takes two calls from me at various points, e.g. in the cases where ready to copy remarks does produce a response it consistently ignores my first call. Teeps Posted December 28, 2020 Author Posted December 28, 2020 As I'm home for the holidays I had time to quickly try again. The JTAC definitely has line of sight, but you can see the issue clearly here. Mission attached for reference. Teeps Posted January 1, 2021 Author Posted January 1, 2021 Hi Flappie, I think it is the new ZSU 57 that breaks it. Maybe it puts the JTAC off his game somehow! Could you do me a favour and check the attached mission please? Both JTACs are on 251 MHz, Axeman is the Southern, which I think won't work, Springfield is the Northern which will. Flappie Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Hi Teeps. You are absolutely right: the bug comes from the new ZSU-57 unit: When the ZSU-57 unit is in the vicinity of Axeman, Axeman never answers to "Ready to copy remarks". As soon as I remove the ZSU-57 unit, Axeman answers to all my requests, including "Ready to copy remarks". ---
Teeps Posted January 1, 2021 Author Posted January 1, 2021 Thanks for taking the time to test this (and Happy New Year by the way). Hopefully ED can identify the issue now. Win10 x64, 16 GB RAM, Ryzen 5 1600X @3.60 GHz, 500 GB SSD, GeForce 1080 Ti
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted January 5, 2021 ED Team Posted January 5, 2021 Hi this is already reported and due to the JTAC not knowing what the target is. thank you Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Fisherman82 Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 (edited) It would also be good if it could be reported to the devs that JTACs dont regard individual targets in a assigned group as a individual target, meaning that if you are assigned to target a group of 5 tanks and you destroy the one he is lasing it is not recognized by the JTAC as a hit but instead as a miss "target is not destroyed" because the whole group is not destroyed with the Laser-Maverick on the first pass. If you request BDA he does not acknowledge it either, only after a while you may get a unrequested call that "one unit destroyed reattack is authorized". This causes all kinds of hang ups in the dialog and can easily be replicated every time by setting up a JTAC a group of target tanks and a Player controlled Hornet for example. This used to work as it should at one point but was suddenly changed into how it is now. I can set up such a mission if it is any point of me doing it. I made a campaign for my self where the first mission is a CAS mission, I have flown it four times by now and not been able to complete it, not because of my own performance but due to bugs in the JTAC AI which is pretty boring.
