I’m having the same issue - P47 aerial gunnery training... target is a P-51, but with only 220 IAS I’m unable to close the gap for a good shot...

Everything seems set correctly, as above ^^

Now that is very little information you give to us...

Everything seems correct? Check again and be convinced everything is correct. Also, what engine setting? That would be kind of good to know...

220mph where? At SL? Okay, that's slow. 220mph at 30'000ft? Okay that's fast.

Just drop track from this flight, track is worth more then thousands words.

Not sure without going back in to the mission, but assume that as a training scenario the aircraft is properly set up...?!

(either way, as a standard P-47 mission it is there for all)

Anyway, IIRC, 19k feet, 54” MP, max revs, clean flaps / gear, cowl flaps closed, primer locked...

Don't mean to Necro this thread but it's the discussion I was looking for. So by using a .2 correction for every thousand feet of altitude I came up with....250ias at 28k altitude equals about 390tas ? Am to doing that correctly?

  Hi, yes that sounds about right, wind speed and direction, relative to your heading, and the barometric pressure and air density have a part in it too. 2% per thousand feet will get you in the ballpark.

Now is there a quick and dirty work around this list in getting all this done automatically?:

==========================================================

P47D .... Couple things impact top speed,

Gear up

flaps up

magnetos both on

mixture Auto rich

prop max

throttle max

boost lever as required to obtain max allowable MAP 52' w/o water 64' with water.

trim plane for minimum slip

as above close cowl flaps above 225mph

you should be able to go good above 320mph at SL, 350mph with water

rotate the primer to closed position

==========================================================

Sorry, call me lazy, just spent 2 days on checking the Spitfire's settings to get it going a bit.

==================== update:

ADDED: Testing the JUG again, it looks great, but for me it's impossible to get it tuned right & working with a Warthog set ...

The Dora in contrary is quite easy, to get up and to up to speed;  just bought it.

Definitely gave up on it; rudder trim is also not working, IMO this nicely made plane module is unfinished business, and should not be for sale.
